Payton Sandfort

Or I disagree.

Let's leave it at that.
🙂
Ok. What are you disagreeing with? The numbers that prove or disprove an opinion? Give me one piece of empirical evidence based on factual information that you can hang your hat on that suggests that Kris isn't the second most productive player on the team or that Pmac should be getting more minutes at the 3 than him. Anything besides your feelings or your gut because those things are for relationships, not basketball. Are you sharing your feelings with Fran because I don't understand what he's doing with minutes half the time either.

I've had enough of your thread derailing. This thread was about Sandfort until you hijacked it on page 1. If you want to talk about Kris Murray, start your own thread.
I've had enough of your inept logic, dishonesty and excuse making for Iowa sports.

Why don't you go be some other message boards village idiot.

Here's what you're failing to comprehend over and over BB. He played at a caliber that ONLY Kris and Keegan can play at against Indiana. No one else on the team not named Murray will ever put up those numbers this year or frankly even come close. That fact alone means he should be getting 25-30 if this team is to reach its potential. Now, toss that aside and go with your logic that he only had one good game and it was a fluke. If that game is never even played, he is STILL the second best player on the team based on all of the metrics to date. That game just solidified it.
FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR OVER 16 Games.
His effective field goal percentage is 60% vs 46% for Pmac. That's good for 2nd on the team.
His PER is 31.2 vs 18.7 for Pmac. That's good for 2nd on the team
His per 40 RPG is 11.2 vs 5.9 for Pmac. That's tied for 1st on the team.
His per 40 PPG is 24 vs 18.3 for Pmac. That's good for 2nd on the team.
His Blocks per game are 2.5 vs .6 for Pmac. That's good for 2nd on the team.
His Steals per game are 2.1 vs 1.2 for Pmac. That's good for 3rd on the team.
He's a highly efficient scorer. He is perhaps the best rebounder. He is an excellent defender. There is no one else on the team that you can make these statements about not named Murray. He is a much better player than Pmac, Cmac or anyone else taking minutes except for his brother. It's just a fact. This is not just my gut or my opinion. The numbers all support it. You just for whatever reason have a problem grasping it.
The argument that a player has to first produce a great game in order to be deserving of more PT is asinine.

Yet that is the argument homers make to justify all coaching decisions when an underutilized player performs well.

When said player finally does have a great game they credit the coach for additional minutes at precisely the right time.

Its call confirmation bias. They start with a base line assumption the coach is always right and interpret everything through that lens.

Anyone who understands basketball knows you can project what a player will become. Obviously Kris being Keegan identical twin has a similar ceiling.

The ingredient for player production is minutes, you don't get production first.

Kris game against IU was a logical result of more minutes.

Minutes that Fran was finally forced to give him.

Players just play better when they get more and consistent minutes. Historically, championship caliber teams have 8-9 man rotations.

I can agree with about 90% of what you have here. Identical twin does not confer identical results. I was an Identical twin. I was a better student. He was a better athlete.

Thats fair.

Im not real familiar with the physical similarities of identical twins in general but I think we've seen enough of both to infer that they have similar trajectories.

Keegan is probably a little more athletic.

The human brain has a powerful influence on any endeavor and identical twins might share the same DNA but are still as individual as you and I. Sometimes it's easy for people to forget that when they see 2 people who appear so similar that they can't tell the difference between them. My own siblings called my brother and I "Twin" for the first 10 years of out lives.

I agree. Payton has some special skills (quick, consistent and high release on hus jump shot, good timing for defending/blocking shots) that I believe will help him to have success at Iowa. The rest of his game just needs to catch up.

Yes I like his overall potential. He could see a trajectory in the mold of Pete Jok.

There's only one opinion on this board that counts and he loves to type...???
