Good thing that Cordell's surgery (sports hernia) is now, so the eight weeks out only will affect the Prime Time Season (his team with Kriener won the title last year). He'll be back for the European trip. Same surgery that C. J. Beathard had. Wonder if he got it lifting weights? Maybe fixing it will help his speed. .........Sorry- didn't see that there is another thread.

When did he get the injury? If during the season that would show some serious pain tolerance. It would also be a huge impact on his game. And in the absence of, he should receive a bump in performance one would think.

Here is to a quick recovery, and a big bounce back in Germany.

I'm not sure of course, but I do remember some games in mid season where he was having some back or torso issues, and was in a lot of pain off and on. He went through a stretch where he wasn't converting at the rim, like he had been, but might have nothing to do with it as well.

Pemsl, Baer and Bohannon were at a Hawkeye golf function near Dubuque (Peosta) this past week and Cordell is already playing golf. He told the press that he really didn't have (technically) sports hernia surgery, but a couple of torn groin muscles were repaired by a surgeon in Oklahoma. No details, but he is doing well, and will be practicing basketball in under five weeks.

Great News...thanks for passing your inside info along.

A little surprised Pemsl had to leave UI hospitals to get surgery. But it sounds much less serious than could have been imagined.

Not uncommon to travel to see a specialist for surgery that is outside the UofI hospital system. Beathard did the same thing.

Bobby Stoops brought his child to UI hospitals for surgery, even though he was coach at Okla.

My thought was that UI hospitals are so big, with so many specialists, that I was a little surprised he had to go elsewhere. But not all doctors are in Iowa City. Glad Pemsl's doing well.

What suprises me, is that he's playing golf already. Pretty stressful activity on much of the body's core.

Not saying this happened in this case, but the UIHC and other great hospitals do share patients. I've met many people who came to UIHC that were sent from Mayo.

I would agree. Golf can definitely pull and torque the body's core. I have had it happen several times where bad pain lasted several days. And lasting injury is easy to have happen.

His big leg surgery was done at Iowa. He was probably sent to Oklahoma by the U of I.
I heard Zach (whose last name as announcer I can't remember) and Mac McCausland talk about his leg surgery during the Iowa/Regis game and it was graphic (talking about how the Dr's had to break his femur during surgery). Ouch!
