Coach McCaffery stuck with this young man when he went through a very serious leg surgery. I was worried all year that something would happen and he would reinjure the leg or the knee. He always said his leg felt great when asked and he must have been telling the truth because it held out all year.

Would have been easy for Fran to move on to another recruit when Cordel had his surgery. Sure glad he didn't. That kid is a warrior and I am really glad he is a Hawk. He gave us a lot more this year than I think anyone ever expected.

Agree, Fran is batting two for two on sticking by the side of injured players, giving them a chance to heal and contribute. Jok and Pemsl are prime examples not to abandon players because of injuries. Jok was a great player and Pemsl is going to be too. Cudos to Fran.

Jok was a great shooter nothing more. Defense sucked, ball handling was average. Yes he helped Iowa and they would have lost some games without him, but he wasn't anything more than a great shooter.

I think you got Jok confused with Kent McCausland. Jok rebounding was good at 5.5 a game, his assists were 2.6 and 1.1 steals as well. He was also more than just a shooter as he was able to create his own shot off the dribble. Sometimes it seemed like he got lazy on D but his scoring made up for those rare moments. Jok will be missed but still the future is very bright.

Makes me wonder if you watched games. His all around game isn't superior but he is adequate or better in areas. He made some good assists at end of year and also was good rebounder for a guard

First Team All-B1G.

Down year for B1G, blah blah whatever.

The point remains. Fran stuck with Jok and it paid off fairly well. It appears that sticking with Pemsl will continue to pay dividends as well.

You're nothing more that a great poster! Well, wait!

Smart play by Fran to bet on the upside of both players if they could get healthy, which they did. I would guess Pemsl will improve more as he gets further away from his leg injuries.

I wish there was a hate button on this site. Jok has his downfalls certainly, but if a 1st team All B1G is nothing special what are your expectations for a good player? The whole team must suck in your opinion.

Lighten up Francis

Not exactly. I think Jones was a strikeout. Not that I'm complaining. I'll take 2 of those 3 any day.

Wow, I said he was a great shooter and bad at defense (lazy) and an average ball handler. I guess we'll ignore the turnovers and bad defense. Sure he rebounded, but I didn't say anything about that either way. Do we all need to revisit some of the game threads about it? I also think he disappeared at times and definitely didn't lead by example (see defense). Yes his scoring will be missed, but his average ball handling and lazy defense will not be.

Anyone have +/- on Jok? Could prove me wrong I guess.

Are you threatening us? Or are you actually trying to say those game threads have some significance beyond providing a place for juiced up on amphetamines fans to over-react? o_O

Pemsl has great moves under the basket and knows how to position himself for rebounds. I wonder if his leg problem keeps him from playing above the rim? I don't recall him ever dunking the ball.
