Losses by Cortez (by major), Gulibon (a tradition unlike any other!), and Rasheed.

Cortez lost to 17th ranked Scotty Parker and got pounded pretty good, Gulibon lost to #3 Randy Cruz 2-0 and Rasheed lost to #16 Preisch 6-3. Still 197 and HWT to go.

Oh and Joseph won 9-5 in a comfortable, but not the "bonus point dominant" way some have expected.

Penn State won 197 and HWT comfortably. Nevills was over a ranked guy, though Vollaro....has offense issues, to be kind. That said, it appears Nevills looked great. I think two TDs plus backs. McCutcheon dominated his guy, also, but it was a much lower quality opponent.

In the prematch coach said VJ was not going to wrestle as he has been sick. VJ must have talked himself onto the mat.

I prefer to look at the postive. Suriano 7-0 vs #4 ranked wrestler (with back points and almost a pin -edit).

Zain, Nolf, Nickal continue rolling. (You're right that Nickal hasn't faced top competition yet. Still a nice streak though.)

Cenzo was sick so not bonusing is no biggie. If he were with tOSU, he would've been held out. ;)

McCutcheon getting the major and Nevills looking good.

Yes, Suriano crushed Cruz. I didn't mention it because I expected it beforehand, however, if I'm being fair, by ranking, it is a big deal. The style matchup dictated this, and the weight itself is pretty thin once you get past Gilman and Dance.

Cenzo looked to be conserving 1/2 way in. Sometimes you've got to go when you feel a little off.

Zain just tore apart a good Laike Gardner. That was brutal.

Lehigh wrestled really hard in most matches. Something they haven't done the last few years at times

don't forget Nolf, he man-handled his guy.
The cowboys aren't coming out with nearly the intensity as PSU. Might have to realign after today.

not seeing Heil #1 or Collica #3, these guys can be beat

Yeah. Damn these Cowboys, winning every match with bonus in 3 of 4 so far. Should have dropped two of the first four.

My guy is Carton, and I'm not counting im out against Heil.

Expect PSU responds in 5-4-3-2-1

Cortez's performance was very disappointing today. No doubt about that. Gulibon is still a complete question mark.

That said, Suriano completely dominated the #4 wrestler in his division. Cruz was never a threat that entire match.

Plus, a healthy and much improved Nevills looks to be a real threat to finish top 5 or 6 at HWT.

Streibler vs Zain at PSU...Ryan noted that Streibler had the flu. BWI had a field day with it.

And we still quote it often on BWI, but until Cael uses a fly or average officiating as an excuse for a loss, it's not the same situation.

Why, because you guys can do it for them? Look, I was making a throwback joke. But I guess if Suriano beat Gilman at Iowa, and I went over to BWI and said "Well it was known he was sick"...I'm sure I wouldn't get laughed at or derided even a little bit.

How does one get "derided"? Is that like you have a spiral ride on a guy and you just let him go or does it have to be a full reversal?

PSU fans making excuses for their guy after a solid match where he was never threatened. Spoiled much?

I didn't see it but that's I was thinking. Freshman have up and down matches all year due to sickness, being hurt, tired, bad cut...it's a learning process. But dang, he still won.

Yeah for the record, I didn't take offense to your post, Chief. I was just pointing out the fact that Ryan made those excuses for Steiber's loss and it sounded lame. I'm sure Logan never would've said that stuff even if it was the way he felt.

As for Cenzo...apparently it was said before the dual that he actually wasnt going to wrestle due to illness but he then went anyway. I wasn't up in arms over his performance, it was just workmanlike and when going after Nolf on the mat - people tend to put down a workmanlike effort.

I hate to say it, but Nolf, Zain, and Nickal are all dominant and hammers. We just don't have that level of dominance in 3 guys.

2 of them have a tough test to win the title.
Zain should Cruz unless Sorensen finds lightning.

There are a few guys that could prevent Nolf from pinning them, but barring injury, it's hard for me to see Nolf losing to anyone. He's not quite Zain, but an undefeated season with tons of bonus pts seem to be well within reach.

Right now, given the superstars PSU has, it seems like a race between them and Okla St. PSU will likely have more champs and bonus pts, while Okla St will probably have more AA's.

Iowa took a hit with Clark's injury (not known exactly how serious, but doesn't sound good). Also, Stoll is still, as yet, unproven. Hopefully, Stoll is fully recovered and Clark gets back too.

The average flu hit Cenzo huh? Were the refs avg too?
For wrestling officials at a Penn State match, they were well above average.
The analogy you are offering is off a bit.

The Lions wrestled a team that has some tough kids and has a certain wrestling personality. The Lions won 7 matches, won the dual 30 to 10 and took another step in the process of repeating as Big10 and NCAA champions.

It was a fairly enjoyable and successful day of wrestling.

Damn...you guys cannot take a joke...and it's your board's inside joke.
