I was surprised no one posted anything about Piersbacher's play in the NC game. I thought he looked pretty solid and equally dependable as a run blocker and pass protector. While I had hoped he would stay with the Hawks,
no one can knock his choice. Alabama is clearly a program at another level right now.

I am no expert at OL performance but I agree as to Ross's play. He is definitely a OG and he looks like he will be playing on Sunday's after next season. Bama OTs were burned alot by Clemson's DL but Coker is not a top 10 QB. He does not seem to know when to tuck and run. I don't think Bama repeats to the title game next year. Stanford and Clemson are my favorites as of today. Michigan's got a lot of talent coming back, also.

He played a very good game, He would of been a good one to keep.

Doubt he could crack the lineup for IOWA.
I think all the players around him were covering for him
LOL sarcasm

They were running behind him all nite. Very happy for the Iowa boy, wish he could have stuck with the Hawks. National Championships are pretty rare, he looks to have made the right choice.

He is doing well in college, but his long term prospects of being in the NFL are no better at Alabama than Iowa....history says so.

If Matt Tobin can start games for the Eagles....Iowa can produce linemen.

You are correct. At the same time, his chances of winning a national championship went up substantially.

You mean the kid that grew up in Iowa with no ties to Alabama?

Just think, if Kirk didn't have the down years after 2009, we'd have probably landed this kid.

I think Reese moving from OL to DL was the main reason we lost Ross P

Yeah, well, he should transfer to Iowa so we can win a national championship. Thank you.

Hey, I'm super happy with the Hawkeyes season too but to say we were close to a Nat Title is a bit of a stretch. Bama with or without Ross P plays in that NC game. Iowa with Ross P still doesn't play in NC game. IMO

I don't get worked up when iowa kids decide to go out of state. I'd like them to stay but if the grass is greener feel free to choose another program.

What is hard to respect with this guy is how he held an Iowa scholarship offer for so long and then left us in a lurch late in the process - almost guaranteeing Iowa would be stuck offering a marginal fallback recruit. His actions hurt our program - so I don't feel the need to support him like I normally would with Iowa kids.

Excellent observation.

These kids change their mind all the time. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Hadn't he committed to Iowa? He changed his commitment. Not Classy. Like Mr Wonderful on Shark Tank- "You're dead to me!"

Good point. What irks me about the whole process is how he flipped. After choosing Iowa over ND who was in NC that year. Then at the last minute Bama comes in and he flips. Granted Bama dismantled ND that year. You can never convince me there wasn't some shadiness that went on.

To be clear, I'm not claiming that this kid, specifically, took money. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if he did though.
I just find it amusing that you have all of these inner city kids who grew up in poverty who show up to these schools driving Escalades and have thousands of dollars worth of tattoo work done over the course of their collegiate career.

Tattoo's pretty much apply to every NCAA team especially in f-ball & B-ball. I have no bad feelings towards Ross as he has always's been an exceptional young man on and off the field. If Saban came knocking at my door late in the process I probably would have made the same decision he did especially considering he already has a National Title under his belt. Just as important, he was able to practice every day this past season against a defensive line that most likely includes 3 first round draft picks in this years draft.

That was never implied. Ross playing on Sunday could happen with Iowa or Alabama. Why not win a NC or two, while playing on Saturday?
It's a lot easier winning NC when the road is half paved for you. If that's all he wanted, he took the easy route. He grew up a Hawk fan. The way I understand it, his room was decked out in Hawk garb. Wanted to be a Hawk. If that had not been the case, I would have respected his decision more. Went for the glory, not the challenge.
