Piersbacher?

If you can't understand and respect why someone would give up their dream of playing for Iowa so that they could win an NC, then you're an idiot and have never had a single competitive bone in your entire body.

It's not like he left to go to MSU or Nebraska, it was freaking Alabama.
And he also chose Iowa over ND initially. Who happened to be in the CG that year. Granted they got killed by Alabama.

Yes great situation he went to and it will pay benefits (already has) so you cannot fault him. The 'but' for me is if you fast forward 10-20 years after your career is over will you be remembered in a factory of blue chip guys that all won titles? The fact is if he does not go to Bama, there would have been another blue chipper playing left guard winning that title and the beat goes on. Just as there will when he leaves. You are a dime-a-dozen there. You go to Iowa and would have been a part of a historic run and maybe been a difference maker as we needed help on the line. Still have a great chance to make the NFL. The issue was there is much more risk going to Iowa and no guarantees. Bama gives you the guarantee with or without him.

I would say you're the freaking idiot. You've no idea what I've competed in over the years. Not competitive? Those that know me would laugh at that idiotic statement.

Again, freaking Alabama? The rich get richer. Like I said, the road was half paved for him. What a challenge that was.

What point are you trying to make?

He got to play in the nationally recognized best conference in the country, got to play in the amazing Alabama/Auburn rivalry (compared to what at Iowa, the Cy-Hawk game?), gets to play great programs like LSU and Tennesse every single year (as opposed to Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, and Minnestoa), gets to make mutlple trips to their awesome stadiums (would never get the chance to play in Ann Arbor or Columbus if he came here, since we barely ever play those teams anymore), won an NC as a freshman, something he would never get to do at Iowa, and might get the chance to win or at least play for a few more before he's done. And after all of that, he'll have just as good of a chance to play for a decade in the NFL as if he had gone to Iowa.

In case you hadn't noticed, the interior of Iowa's OL was outstanding this past year, and probably will be again next year with both Daniels and Welsh back. Iowa, typically, has a great line no matter what, and the presence or absence of Pierschbacher isn't going to change that. Hell, he probably wouldn't have even seen the field for us this year with Walsh, Daniels, Welsh, and Blythe playing at such a high level.

Pierschbacher will soon discover what other Iowa kids who went out of state to play football have. Once your career is over nobody back home cares or remembers much about what you did back then.

Maybe he'll do what the vast majority of Iowan's do once they graduate from college, and go live someplace else.

No one in the rest of the country cares about Iowans or what happens here. Most people with solid prospects choose to live someplace else.

One advantage to playing at Alabama that I do not think has been mentioned. The D Line he practices against daily is a lot higher quality than he would have at Iowa.

You are one, tough, keyboard SOB. Sounds to me like you're an SEC lover. What are you doing on an Iowa board?
If you would have chosen to play for a mediocre B1G team over the unquestioned best program in the entire country, then yeah, your a non-competitive little bitch.

You don't think it's challenging to start as a freaking freshman at freaking Alabama? You're a clueless, braindead moron.

You're not fit to wash Pierscabacher's jock, you sniveling pussy.

Scaring little bitches like you.

You have to be one gigantic POS to get that butthurt over an 18 year old kid choosing to play for someone other than your favorite football team.

You sound like a real winner. I bet your folks are proud.
One last post before I vacate the free boards. Thought this post was in the lounge when I initially responded.

First, you don't scare me in the least. Your big internet talk tells me all I need to know about you. Secondly, it might do you wise to realize no matter how tough you think you are, there's always somebody out there to put you on your ass. But certainly something you don't need to worry about hammering on that little key board of yours. You go ahead with your name calling and false bravado and I'll hang up and listen. Can't wait for your rough-bastard retort. And you'll have the last say, so make it a good one.

wow...I was just coming into this thread to see if Ross wanted to come play for Iowa as a grad transfer or something. I didn't expect a cat fight...go for it girls! I love watching girls fight..there is always a chance to see a boob or something. Wait, they are both boobs...we've already seen it. Move on people.

Uh, Proof of what Perry Mason... that a kid's parents got him a truck? Yeah, that never happens in the world except by football parents getting $$ from a football school. Great sleuthing... a lawyer or PI you are not. Again, if you are going to make baseless, factless, accusations, be able to prove them or keep looking like a moron.

I see many of our local farm kids driving brand new trucks for their first vehicle at age 16. Not a lot of proof there.

Look, the kid had a chance to play for the best program in college football. Who can blame him for that?

Keep in mind, Iowa was at a pretty terrible place and things were not looking up AT ALL when it was time for him to commit.

If the momentum at that time would be like it is currently, he very well might have decided to stay here at be a Hawk.

I certainly couldn't blame him for choosing Alabama at the time he did though. Get over it.

It's a lot easier winning NC when the road is half paved for you. If that's all he wanted, he took the easy route. He grew up a Hawk fan. The way I understand it, his room was decked out in Hawk garb. Wanted to be a Hawk. If that had not been the case, I would have respected his decision more. Went for the glory, not the challenge.
Easier? He had to compete for his spot on the roster and the starting lineup against way better talent and competition! Good for him on his success. It's amusing when middle aged men get this out of joint about the decision of a teenager.
And it's funny about the people complaining about this thread existing and him being a traitor, yet there are multiple Wegher threads here yearly.
