The PieHoles on TBS and CBS like this phrase.

I have NO IDEA what it means, nor does anyone else.

Is UCLA a blueblood with their gaudy 15-19 record?

Is Syracuse a blue blood program? Oklahoma? Villanova?
Some basketball minds, here, need to help settle these important questions.

I know, the cheaters at Chapel Hill are indeed, a Blue Blah program.

Yes.

The term "blue blood" comes from the once widely accepted belief that royal family members blood actually was blue. That's why college basketball royalty (tradition) is referred to as a blue blood.

Ok, I'll make up a definition:

Blue Blood Program - A program that has had at least 8 Final Four appearances or at least 3 National Championships since 1979, which many consider the modern era of college basketball.

List of Blue Blood Programs:

Connecticut
Duke
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisville
Michigan St
North Carolina

Programs that THINK they're Blue Blood Programs but aren't (at least not anymore):

Florida
Indiana
UCLA

There, it's settled.

LOL... No.

IU has 5 FF's and 2 National Title since '79.

Lousiville has 3 FF and 3 National Titles since '79

One of these programs is a Blueblood.

Two pieces of advice:
1) Read my post more carefully
2) Recheck your facts

Blue blood is like royalty .... it lasts for generations. I think post-1979 is a little short IMO.

I think that Indiana and UCLA belong on a list of blue bloods.

We can agree to disagree. You can list Indiana and UCLA basketball as a blue blood - right next to Nebraska football and the Portuguese military.

Syracuse is an Orange blood program. (Final 4 for both men & women)

IOWA is a Black n Gold blood program

These could be kind of like the Homeland security color coding, yeah

I agree meet ferenz. If you you want a chuckle check out the IU Hoops thread. They still think it's 1985. Totally delusional. LOL
