I'm watching a replay of the B10 network special about PMac's battle with cancer at the moment (feeling under the weather today so just lying on the couch resting; no, it's not COVID, but thanks for thinking it 😉).

Anyway, I'm just thinking, man, this is really all gravy at this point, isn't it? I forgot how emotional that situation was and how dire his diagnosis was. I'm not sure he would have made it even a decade earlier because the medical science with cancer had advanced significantly in the 2000s by the time he was diagnosed. I'm really happy for PMac and the McCaffery family.

I haven't watched it all yet, but from what I have seen it will tug at the ol' heart strings a little bit.

Quite the ordeal for the McCaffery Family for sure.

McCaffery gets into the lane really easily. He doesn’t always know what he wants to do once he gets there or goes up as aggressively as he should, but his ability to use his herky jerky dribbling style to get by guys consistently bodes very well for his future.

My son was 16 when he was diagnosed with leukemia. He was a junior in HS. His treatment was quite long (5-6 months), and then the clock starts on the 5 year goal to be considered "cured". He was successful - he's now 31. But, I'll never forget the emotions during that time.

When he was a senior, his soccer team made it to State. Of course, I just about lost it. What a thrill!

So, the Fran family lived through it and I'm sure it brought them closer as a family. His successes on the floor in a B1G game must feel like championships.

I will always be rooting for Patrick.

It's hard not to root for PMac, he's really surprised me this year with his development and I think his basketball ceiling is quite high. Seems like a great kid as well.
No doubt. I'm sure everything he's been through , not only himself but his friend passing from cancer has given Pmac a unique perspective for such a young man......

Love PMac, great story. And, he's going to develop into a major contributor for us; I like to envision him developing into the next Aaron White, including the sweet alleyoop dunks. Hoping to see a lot of those hookups between he and JoeT over the next couple of years!

If he can keep getting stronger and tighten up the 3 ball a bit, he will be a force. Love his defense too!

P McC is going to be a tremendous player. Not the first talented freshman to be something of a spaz when finds himself around the rim. The OSU game was just a glimpse of Patrick's ceiling. There are some spectacular dunks in his future.
