Pmac

He needs to stop those shots where he drives to the basket and gets stopped but throws the ball hard in a straight line with no upperward projectory at the basket. Try stopping a few feet away and take a shot.
Patrick is a talented player and is a good scorer , but does need to improve his shot selection. Also, like several of our front line guys he needs to rebound better. I think he has great upside.

Plain and simple both McCaffery bro's are bench players at best. neither shoots the ball good and at 6'9" PMAC had 1 rebound tonight.....1. Both of the Murray brothers should be getting 35+ minutes a game and I'm not sure why they aren't. CMAC should only get scrub minutes.

Preach!

MAC players playing in the big ten

Agree Kris should get more of PMac's minutes but don't agree that PMac is a bench player.

He's a solid offensive player and is long. He didn't have an especially good game last night but I think that was partially due to playing a very physical team.

CMac needs very limited minutes at this point. He's a liability on offense.

He's a liability everywhere.

95% of the time there will be at least one of Fran's boys playing because Fran sees PMAC as 2nd best player on the team and CMAC as the 6th best player based on minutes distribution.

PMAC can score--but so far at at 43% overall shooting and 26% from 3pt line. Will he end the season as efficient scorer? He needs to get his 3pt shooting around 33% or better. He is always going to have trouble guarding opposing 3's in man defense. Most opposing teams go with a 3rd guard which PMAC has hard time sticking to in man defense.

At 6'9. PMAC size advantage should mean more rebounds, but it is the opposite---he is poor rebounder. At the "3" he's averaging 2.6 rebounds in 23 minutes/game vs Kris getting 5.6 in 19 minutes. Kris Murray defend betters, rebounds better, shooots better.

Starters (default lineup)
Rebacca, Keegan, Kris, Perkins, JoeT.

Bench
PMAC, Sandfort, Ulis, JoshO, JBo

Bit minutes
CMAC

Don't do the hockey line full lineup changeout. Go big with JoshO at center for part time vs the Cockburns/Edy type centers. Default is Rebacca at center. Small ball has Kris/Keegan and either Pmac/Sandffort at the 3.

Perkins majority of 2 guard minutes, JBO/CMAC as backups. Actually Ulis is better at 2 guard than CMAC because Ulis defends better and shoots better and has more long term upside.

JoeT/Ulis at PG.

BS. Iowa s most effective lineup was the two Murray’s, Patrick, Perkins and Ulis. Their pressure got to both PU and Illinois. Just couldn’t get shots to fall early. They all took some poor shots but driving to basket better than pcontinous passes around perimeter

Who rebounded well last night besides Rebraca and Kris?

Well he better get to it then. Isn't he like 35?

I kid, I kid.

Yeah, when you break it down:

3-8 (38%) from 2 point range
2-3 (67%) from 3

5-11 (45%) overall

0-1 FTs

12 points

in 24 minutes, he had 1 rebound

Patrick needs to start taking better shots, and even more importantly, play better defense and get some rebounds. Pathetic effort on the glass against Illannoy, especially by Iowa's starting forwards, and that was the difference in the game.

Has a lot of talent but does exhibit better shot selection, particularly at critical times in the game. 6’9” and athletic but needs to be good for more than one rebound in a game. Big upside.

Only a blind man would see patrick play and say he needs to sit on the bench. Not shooting great yet but him and murrays are all giant ball handlers.

I would love to see them run a set like Michigan St runs. Pmac running the point , both murrays come up for a high screen and roll on both sides of PMACS guy. Put Jbo and Joe T in both corners near the baseline. Pick and roll to either one and the one not in the pick and roll sets up for 3. Would love to see it.

Pmac is not a great decision maker/ballhandler. You do not want him running point. As far as "not shooting great yet" his stats are in line with last year. He's just not a great shooter and other counting stats leave a lot to be desired. I'm not saying Fran should bench him but maybe be more selective on when he plays and who he plays with.

Rebraca over Kris for now.
Nobody should be keeping Kris out the starting lineup. He's basically where Keegan was last year, not getting the minutes he should be. Rebraca is a serviceable center. Kris is the second best player on the team.

Connor is not a liability on defense. He plays pretty solid D and gets his hands in passing lanes and frustrates opponents.
He's taking minutes from Kris/Pat/Perkins. Who would you rather have on Defense? Honestly, not trying to be a jerk here, but he really shouldn't be playing more than 4/5 minutes.

Agreed but that wasn't the statement. The statement was that he's a liability on defense. He's not.

He's a liability on offense and should be getting very limited minutes as a result.

Completely disagree at this point in the season. Pmac has had "How many years" to show what game he has. I don't dislike the kid, just don't think he's a starter on a B1G team. He's a poor shooter with limited defensive/rebound skills. Prove me otherwise. He has basically disappeared against the good teams. I hope he turns it around soon and changes my mind. Both Murray's should not only start, but get the most minutes on the team.

I really don't know what to make of Patricks game.

He super soft and exhibits poor fundamentals and decisions. Not a good defender or rebounder.

But he has pretty good feel and instincts for offense, very good ball skills for his size and a knack for getting shots off that is pretty exceptional.

Hes a shot forcer and I can't decide if thats a good thing or not.

Start Joe and Tony at guard, Ulis is first off the bench. 2 of those 3 need to be on the court at all times. At forward start Keegan, Patrick, and Rebacca. Kris is first off the bench. Those seven should get most of the minutes. Joe and Ulis are a toss up. Ulis is playing great but we need a good Joe, and he plays better as a starter with Patrick. JBo is used as a spark off the bench if he's hitting, if not try Ryan. But always keep 2 of your top guards on the court at the same time. Ogundele needs steady minutes, but only a few minutes at a time. Stop with the playing 2 separate teams 7 or 8 minutes at a time. Kris, Keegan, and Tony, should only have 3 or 4 minute rest at most. Then get them back on the court.

Why aren't you in coaching?

Oh, that's right, you don't know squat about D1 basketball!

Lol wat? Pat was in double figures against both purdue and illinois. Had a solid line of 15-5-3 against purdue. He belongs on the floor

Lol bb is more than scoring points. Several posters on here...not just myself noted how he got pushed around...stood flat footed and never boxed out for rebounds...and was torched on defense. Did you look at the stats? No team can win when the opposing team nearly doubles up on rebounds. The number of offensive rebounds Illinois got basically lost the game for the hawks.
