Poaching recruits.

His recruitment has been pretty quiet. The only things I had seen about him before Wiltfong's newest crystal ball prediction was Iowa. He has tOSU, Penn State and others on his list, but only Iowa has been predicted. Wiltfong I think is the best at predicting, I think he is like 88%. He seems to be right more then the other bozo's. LOL
Thanks, I have seen Wiltfong say ISU so wasn't sure if anybody else was predicting anything other than an Iowa school.

Yes, Iowa should contact players that might be interested. It's not poaching, IMO. If a kid tells you he is solid with his oral commitment, move on. But, if he's listening, make the pitch.

Waggoner might be left without a spot at Iowa if he doesn’t decide soon.

I could see Tennessee, Texas A&M, Nebby going after Frost. A&M would be hard to turn down as well.
I read that Frost turned down Florida. If so, I can’t see him going to Tennessee or A&M if he turned down the Gators. The only two options I can see him making are going to Nebraska or staying at UCF.

We have most of our verbal commitments coming to Iowa City on December 8th. Along with them, Leonard Taylor, Dallas Cradieth and the JUCO Linebacker are visiting. But no Wagonner. Landing the other 3 would be sweet especially with the easily signing period approaching soon.
Wondered what was up with Taylor as I had heard he was interested a week or two ago. Hope we impress big time. I don't think Waggoner is interested now. Kind of a hunch.

If he turned down Nebraska, I would be soooooooo happy.

Speaking of poaching. It looks like Illinois has a MLB that is going to transfer out as a grad transfer and a punter. Might be something to look in to.

I want Waggoner. But silver lining if he goes to ISU would be the back pedal by their fans who ripped him when it looked like Iowa may be his choice. Everything from, "he is longer being recruited by the big boys" to "he is way overrated" to "he had a bad season but happened to be on a good team" to he "is not athletic." Now of course if he goes to ISU, holy smokes they got the next Joey Bosa and out recruited not only Iowa but ND, PSU, OSU, etc.

If Jimbo Fisher goes to A&M as rumored, then FSU could be in the mix for Frost.

Really hoping Wagoner comes aboard, kind of surprised he has not committed yet. Wonder if he is just waiting or has another school he is really considering.
Wagoner's 247 rating has dropped from 4 to 3 stars and he is now rated number five in Iowa down from number one all season until a few days ago. WIldeman is now a 4 star and number 1 in state with Dillon number two !!! I think maybe Iowa has moved on. BTW Jenkins in now number 4 in Illinois with a 4 star rating and Johnson a 4 star and number four in Indiana. Hawks will have 19 in this class IMO.

A 3 year starter on Iowa's basketball team decides to drop basketball to instead compete against 8 other roster TEs which includes 2 returning starters? Stranger things have happened I suppose but I can't name one right now.
FWIW, he's not started many games. Not saying this is a good idea for him, but he's currently not playing 30 minutes. Like almost every player in our front court, he gets role minutes and those might dwindle with the development of the current crop of freshmen. He's our toughest guy in the front court for sure and I love it when he has big games.

If you switch sports can you red shirt a year? Assuming you have not redshirted at the previous sport.
You are allowed 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility. If you play basketball for four years, you could play the fifth year in another sport, but a redshirt would not be allowed because the five year period would have expired. ISU had a BB player who played football his fifth year when McCarney was coaching.
