Political correctness devours yet another college, fighting over mini-sombreros

Donald Trump is not an "answer" to anything except "Who would make a terrible President?"

I don't think Phenomenally Fran was implying that Trump is a solution. I'm not sure, however.

People being "offended" is part of an overall balance to society. It's also something you have to learn to live with in some instances.

What do Freedom and Liberty mean to you?

Our ancestors fled political and thought oppression like the PC police state this adminstration panders to stupid and feeble minds.

All liberals should rage against the PC politburo in DC, instead you trumpet this false prophet horn gladly.

unbelievable.

What's unbelievable is that you think Donald Trump stands for free speech. And I've said several times in this f*cking thread that I think political correctness has gone too far. I just don't think a blowhard, lying, racist with small fingers is the answer.

Fran seems to prove Bernie's point about the need to federal funding for mental illness though! ;)

I don't think Trump is the "answer" to the cancer that is Political correctness, but at least he is raising awareness to this insidious nonsense!

No other candidate even talks about it!

This isn't a state school. The government isn't involved. These pin heads have the same freedoms you do to act like fools.

What candidate speaks more freely than Trump?

Name one!

He may or may not believe in it but he sure does use it!

Clearly you're not PC. Good for you.

You're right, we need the candidates to focus on more fringe issues, and continue to ignore things like foreign relations and the economy.

Yes, you got me. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of expression are "fringe issues"

My GOD man, do you realize what you just said??

Blathering anything that comes to mind before thinking about it isn't what I think of when I think about free speech. And Trump sues anyone that says anything bad about him. He's on record saying how much he enjoys suing people for libel, even when what they're saying is 100% true.

Oh for the love... Get over yourself, dude. No one's trying to take away your right to free speech. When was the last time you felt oppressed?

Wingers like Fran live in a continual state of paranoiac delusion fostered by the brainwashing effects of living in the wingnut echo chamber of hatred and lies to the exclusion of realistic sources of information. They're continually conditioned into a victim mentality. Fortunately, there is a cure. A few weeks or months away from the chamber oftentimes leads to a return to sanity and reality. Of course, the first, and most difficult, step is for them to admit they have a problem and to seek the help they so desperately need.

Do you suffer from temporary amnesia?

Is it merely paranoid to read time and again examples of PC oppression here in America?

you post 10 topics a day, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

The adminstrators at that college should be made an example out of them, but they won't because their fellow PC oppressors will be in charge of their punishment.

Oh really? Have you visited a college campus lately? Are you telling me you can go there and say whatever you want?

they have clear violations of the first amendment riddled throughout their codes and bylaws.

the authors should be outted and fired effectively immediately. The entire staff complicit should be given a lesson on the first amendment.

So you think the government should arrest these school admins for running their private school the way they want? Sounds like you're the one seeking the big government anti freedom solution. You are what you fear.

I don't think many believe Trump is the answer but one thing most Trump supporters do believe is your establishment/career politicians aren't the answer.

Louis CK recently did a bit that supporting Trump is like Americans wanting to vote themselves cancer and I get what he is saying BUT I think he has missed what the people are feeling (regardless if the people know why they are doing it or not).

You see a growing number of Americans already realize that they DO have cancer and they see Trump as the chemo. No one likes chemo, it is nasty, it does awful things to your body, but in some cases going through that chemo allows the body to heal. In some cases though the cancer winds up killing you anyways.

More and more people are viewing "politics as usual" or "establishment politics" or "team politics" as the cancer so if we want to have a chance of healing the body (restoring some sort of sanity in DC) then the cancer must be killed and for many Trump is the chemo. A nasty guy who temporarily hurts the body (USA) but in the end destroys the cancer (bought and paid for political candidates/parties).

Sounds good, I don't want to hear it then about tuition rates when they are forced to raise due to lack of applicants.

Silly students should know the only group that can be made fun of these days is rich white people. Need to have a good old Tennis Hoes & Golf Club Pros party. The shorter the skirts the better.

Not really, I'm old. But I have many friends who work at Iowa, and some of them are the least PC people I've ever know.

Not necessarily, but i do think appropriate to warn potential students of the insanity of their administrators prior to agreeing to fork over $40K+ over the next four years.
Can't they google up this story? What more do you want to require? Why don't you want this school to have the right to police themselves?

probably because i feel the students first amendment rights are more important than some liberal PC oppressor busy body enforcing anti-free speech codes against unsuspecting students and ruining their lives temporarily?

i guess the better question is, why don't you care?

Because I think government intervention is a bigger problem. Why don't you see that?

Universities could voluntarily sign on for a "Trigger Warning Rating System." Students could also sue if their freedom of speech is violated. In either case, no new government regulation would be required.

Must be an absolutely tiny school if people in the administration are aware of weekend parties.

You would need some law to give the students ground to sue under. This isn't a public institution, it's a private group. Private groups can have all sorts of crazy rules.

There's no such thing, anymore. Private groups can't allow indoor smoking. Private groups can't refuse to bake a gay wedding cake. Private groups can't have a colored-only bathroom. Why can't we have a "no violating freedom of speech" rule for private groups, too?

Sure private groups can do those things. It's so funny that you guys go off all day about how horrible America is. But you get to that opinion by inventing fictions about what America is.
