I watch the WNBA already. Mark my words: barring injury, Clark will be a WNBA champion and Olympic gold medalist before her career is over.
She may be. Disterhoff made a personal choice to quit playing and concentrate on a finance career. But who knows about Clark. I called a couple of Nancy Mulkey's games in HS (tallest player in D1 last year at 6'9") when she was in HS. She played at Oklahoma,Rice and Washington. In talking to her mother at Rice games it was pretty clear Mulkey was not going to try and play pro ball. She was at Vegas camp but is now going to graduate school. Given she could not elevate and was not strong enough to play in the WNBA.

I would not necessarily assume Clark will play pro ball. The above two women did not. WNBA doesnt pay all that well and a lot of players play overseas in the winter.

I don't even know where to begin with this..... Have you ever even listened to Clark talk about her career goals, pro-ball or otherwise? Maybe do that first before you post more nonsense.

Being the best player at Iowa is far different than being the best player in the country for multiple seasons. Luka and Megan were the best players in the country and are having to work hard to try to stick on an NBA/WNBA roster, but that is mostly because of their physical limitations at that level. CC won’t have that issue. Barring injury she will be on an Olympic team in the future and will be a long-time starter and all star in the WNBA. She’s on that level.

She may want to go overseas to make more money in the off-season like so many players do since the WNBA rookie scale starts in the 70k range for the top pick. Or she can work on endorsements if she cultivates her public persona. She will get more publicity in college because of the novelty of being a college kid doing the things she does, so it may be preferable for her to stay as long as possible to help her future career earnings. If we make the final four and combine that with another two deep runs it could be huge. But as a pro she could be an Alex Morgan earning $1MM per year in sponsorships as a pro if she works to cultivate the persona, with potential spikes on Olympic years. There’s already rumors she’s making that much in college, although maybe not per year.

Hark back to Ally Disterhoff. She was the all time leading scorer in Iowa womens history before Gustafson. She never even attempted to play pro ball. Got into private equity with Barclays. During an interview she stated the basketball portion of my life is over. Time to use my degree. Whether she would have made it or not was irrelevant. She moved on. Would Clark do so. Who knows.
The answer is Hell No! Clark is admitted basketball junky and has stated its been her dream to play in the league since she met her idol Mya Moore when she was about 10 years old. She'll take her shot....

No.

It's fun watching the Hawkeyes now with Caitlin The Goat Clark leading the way.

BUT, women's basketball is hard to watch. Very hard to watch.

When Clark leaves I'll go back to not watching women's bb again.

Zero chance I watch the WNBA. My God that just needs to go away.
