BTT is better than nothing, especially after Fran's 5-10 record going into this last BTT. Definitely winning
is a consolation and marks some improvement for Fran.

I'm not sure losing 1st game in NCAA to no-name Richmond in a close game is that much worse than getting absolutely pounded in 2nd game...i.e. like Oregon, Gonzaga, Villanova Round of 32 losses. You only get an extra 2 days of NCAA tourney life.

At least losing to Richmond we can do mental exercises saying we just shot bad....when you get blown out, it is clear you are not on same level with true sweet16 and better teams.

You make some very good points and yes I think 18 conference games are a gracious plenty. The Women play 16 and I think that's a pretty good number also.
Here is another idea. Why not keep the early big ten games in Dec as-is (it's kind of fun to test the waters early and it provides some early season interest), and reduce to an 18 game conference schedule. Then, let's do what the SEC does in football, and end the season with a couple easy non-con games to heal up, allow teams to try some things out before the tourney(s) start, rest a couple guys, etc. Would this give us a leg up on the other conferences? We need some kind of edge.

Same here. When I saw we played early on Thursday, I was worried about it. I told a friend I wish we had Wisconsin's time slot. Play late Friday, and worst case scenario (if Iowa's loses), you still got to look forward to the game all of Thursday and Friday, and enjoyed most of the first round. A loss on Sunday, and you made it through most of the first weekend without being disappointed. The early Thursday game is the worst.
Exactly. Things came crashing down for us all almost immediately this year. Ugh.

Maybe a Friday time slot would have served the team better, but we'll never know. :(

I like the proposal to reduce the number of league games and start the BTT early. My preference would be to dump the BTT, but there's no chance of that happening.

I think this idea that a bunch of 20 somethings suffering from fatigue after 3 days off was a factor in the loss is nonsensical. The fact that Iowa's opponent with arguably less depth faced the same circumstances makes it even less likely a factor.

What you did here is just deepen my conviction that the B1G shouldn’t have a tournament. The real champion, IMO, is still the regular season champion.

It’s a helluva money grab, though. So it shall remain.
I agree with your opinion about the BTT, but I don't believe the regular season champion is totally legit unless the league plays a true round robin. No schedule breaks for certain teams every year. Do that and eliminate the BTT and you still finish the season on time.
