Poll shows softening attitudes toward Jan. 6 attack

Time always changes mood. Look at the polls today on if the US should have used nuclear bombs in WWII.

It’s easy for people today to ignore the millions and millions of lives it saved to use them. It isn’t their sons that would have died in a land war in Japan. Not to mention the millions of Japanese that would have tied in combat and thst would have starved. It’s also easy to ignore the fact the the fire bombing of Tokyo killed more than the nuclear bomb did.

Retro active polling is a complete waste of time.

About animosity toward the Patriots and Chiefs for winning too much in comparison to the indifference about 1/6?

I guess I just don’t understand your point.
It's the repetition. When Chris Collinsworth talks about Mahomes and the Chiefs during every single Sunday night game no matter who is playing, people have a more negative view of Chris and the Chiefs.

When the dems bring up January 6th in every single political discussion no matter the topic, people have a more negative view of the dems and their opinion on Jan 6th. As seen by the election and the poll in the op.

Okay, I understand your point now.

Honestly, i think what the polls on the issue show is something that is quite normal within the american electorate: fatigue. I think the overwhelming majority were and are unhappy with 1/6/21 and recognize its wrongfulness at least at some level, I think a fair number are starting to wonder whether the application of investigative resources here is starting to evoke the Zeng Jing affair, I think a fair number are getting to the camp of "we're still dealing with this stuff 4 years later?", and I think a fair number -- as is usually the case - just have a decent gut feeling for when it's time to stop pissing into the wind.

This event was four years ago,.. At this point I think most Americans expect the guilty to have been identified, tried, sentenced, served their time, and a majority of them released...

This topic is like so many other in this forum. The truth is not found at either extreme but you won’t convince those who’ve dug their heels in of that.
It’s either the protesters were innocent flag wavers who did nothing wrong or they were trying to bring down the government by force. There’s nothing in between.

How would there be an in between? They invaded the capitol in an attempt to overthrow the election.

I've illustrated time and time again that I'm among the most reasonable posters on this issue.

You're exactly right. There is no "in between" here. The video doesn't lie. Cops being beaten with flag poles (weapons) is clearly evident as well as the break in to the Capitol itself where $2.8 million dollars in structural damage was unleashed by Trump's thugs. And all the while this carnage was going on Trump did nothing to stop it for over three hours. Has there ever been a greater dereliction of duty?
