I think we are heading down that path assuming all parties are still around. But even if not, it's good board fodder.

On one hand I think Obama was probably the best president in my lifetime. And I think after 4 years of Trump and the Obama years being remembered fairly fondly by anyone who isn't a hard right winger, I feel like Obama wins this easily. Especially given that Obama would still be in his 60's while Trump would be 82 years old.

On the other hand I think the 2 term limit is a good rule and should be left alone. The presidency by it's very nature and power should be limited in how long it can be held by one person.

The one thing that I pray saves us is the SCOTUS upholding that Trump can't run for a 3rd term and he can't run as VP either.

Obama has too much class and dignity to do this. Something Trump clearly lacks.

The 2028 republican ticket is Vance/Tulsi fwiw.

I keep saying this and I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong that one of Trump's children, I believe probably Don Jr. will be the 2028 Republican nominee. And Donald Trump Sr. is going to either run as VP and ascend back to the presidency once Don Jr. resigns on Jan 21, 2029 (Or maybe even minutes after he takes the oath of office.) or if the SCOTUS doesn't allow that he will just make it clear that Don Jr. is president in name only and that he will be making all the decisions.

So IMO the 2028 Republican presidential nominee is Don Jr. or one of his other children. (No one gets to claim I was wrong if he uses Eric or Ivanka to accomplish the same objective.)

Trump has been very clear that he can't stand the idea of being away from the presidency and having a surrogate of a term limited executive run so that original executive can maintain his power has already been done in the US multiple times at the state level.

The first couple of women governors in this country where the wives of term limited previous governors.

I think Vance was chose because:
1) He is spineless and will do whatever Trump tells him, and

2) Is thoroughly unlikeable so he won’t be a challenge to Trump’s 3rd term or his son running.

There is a reason Vance was picked. The republican party knew it needed someone younger than 50 so they put him on deck. I actually thought Gabbard was going to bw the VP pick this year with the way they paraded her around to the meetings.

The repubs are pretty good at ****ing shit up themselves but there actually seems to be some long term thought that went into this, from what we are told.

1. Well the spineless and doing whatever Trump tells them is the whole Republican party at this point. All the ones with a spine got ran out.

2. To be fair most VP nominees are selected with the thought of not picking someone who would overshadow the presidential nominee. The only exception was Palin and McCain was just throwing up a hail mary play at that point.

No Trump does not want to give up the WH. That is why he attempted a coup in an election he clearly lost. The only person Trump trusts to take the presidency and either resign and hand it back to Trump or just be a president in name only and let Trump make all the decisions is one of his kids.

Trump still talks about having a 3rd term. He isn't going to just walk away from power. Eventually when we get closer to it one of his lawyers or staffers is going to float this idea to him as a way of keeping power. It's been discussed as a possibility even before Trump and the way the amendment is worded one could read into it that a 2 term president can run for VP and ascend to the presidency. Mostly because the amendment says that a 2 term president can not be **ELECTED** president again. It doesn't specifically say he's ineligible to be president, it just says he's ineligible for **election**.

He will as long as he's loyal. But that doesn't mean Trump's gonna back him to be president.

I'm extremely convinced that assuming Trump is still alive in 2028, the Republican nominee is gonna be Don Jr.

Only way this changes is if Trump dies before his term is up.

The nominee (if not Trump) will be the last person to say something nice about Donald. He will turn to Twitter and put the full weight of MAGA endorsement behind that person, regardless of party. And the dopes will just fall in line. "Hell yeah! AOC makes total sense!"

Let’s just hope we have two fresh candidates in 2028.

If the Democrats pick someone reasonably young and halfway sensible, they will likely win the presidency in a landslide.

The Trump presidency is going to be an absolute shit show and continue to get worse. It’s going to be wide open for the Dems (until they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory).

There is nothing I'm going to say that's going to talk you off the ledge. Live your life in a panic for 4 years, you are only hurting yourself.

Here is the plan:

Run like hell to 2026, we know you guys are going to muddy up the midterms and the advantage will be gone and we will be back to gridlock. Right now it's full steam ahead. Doge ends in 2026 at that time your going to start to see the transition from "look what we did" to "let's keep it going and get thr majority back" and thst ticket, is Vance/Gabbard.

You are more than welcome to join me for a meeting and ask any questions you would like.

Why should I believe that the president who refused to give up power when he lost the election and keeps talking about having an unconstitutional 3rd term isn't going to take any opportunity he can to keep himself in power.

For the good of the party? Trump never did anything for the good of the party unless it helped him too.
