Are you trying to break a record for resurrected posts, WWJD?
LOL

I love seeing old threads. In this case I was curious which, if any, of Biden's proposals might have made it into law. I really don't know, but I'm guessing few, if any.

Which is a shame because many are good, and several even got majority support here.

It's just never going to happen. The majority of American's are moderates and desire action and compromise. However, when they go to the voting booth their choices are Left (only desire is to stay in power) and Right (only desire is to stay in power). Personally, I hated our 2020 choices so the first time in history I opted not to vote for a President (voted for other positions and local election only). In 2016 I wanted Johnson (couldn't stand those two choices either).

Had an acquaintance hooping and hollering that this decision is the culprit for where we are right now. I'm still reading up on it.

Money was already a problem before Citizens, as we all know, but this and some followups (McCutcheon, I think) made it so much worse that is was definitely a huge nail in democracy's coffin.

You know how many people vote R to get justices on the Court who will overturn Roe? I vote D to get justices who will overturn Citizens.

If you ask people "do you think money in politics is a serious problem?" how many would say "no"?

If you then ask "do you think it would be a good idea to reduce or eliminate money in politics?" how many would say "no"?

And yet when we vote, too many of us vote for people who oppose those values.

Some things cost more in the long run if you spend all your time bitching about whether or not they are truly free.

Saying nothing is free is both wrong - lots of things are free to all, and lots more are free to some - and a childish deflection.
Easy to say but we have spent trillions on social programs and things look worse than ever. The breakup of two parent families is the real problem and you are not going to spend out of that problem.

after school programs where kids are fed, bathed, mentored, and get clean clothes is something I would spend on. Frankly once people are adults it is bu and large too late.

And how would things look if we hadn't spent those trillions?

I'm not saying I agree with every program, and I'm not claiming there's no room for improving efficiency and curbing corruption, but some of these programs have been literal lifesavers for many Americans, and nearly all of them are better than doing less.

If you have to make it about money and trillions, let's talk unwise tax cuts for corporations and the rich and unwise wars. There are your wasted trillions, and the reasons why some things are "worse than ever."

Dig up Ike's "every gun that is made..." quote.
