1. Inflation - I don't believe it was really caused by Trump or Biden but prices rose under Biden, he gets blamed.

2. Immigration - Republicans successfully convinced people it was out of control and the admin did nothing to change things til it was late or counter their claims.

3. History - She had a lot of far left positions that she backed when she was AG in Cali that she couldn't escape from while trying to moderate herself for a national election.

Inflation.

The Trump campaign successfully attached inflation to Biden/Harris.

They convinced the voters that they were the cause and had no solutions.

Which is just maddening as the true cause was Covid and our inflation recovery is the best in the world.

I selected rhetoric I guess? America is obviously deeply misogynistic. Trump didn't gain voters. She lost tens of millions compared to Biden. Add in the other time trump won was against a woman and clearly America does not think a woman can be president and my opinion is they think that for misogynistic reasons. Just my opinion though.

She may very well have lost just by entering the race. I’m not sure there is a world where Kamala could have better redefined herself as a moderate and distanced herself enough from the inflation problem. I also think there is at least some undercurrent of racism and misogyny that contributed.

The problem wasn’t necessarily any one thing Kamala did (other than running in the first place). It was Biden running in the first place. A one term Biden sets the stage for a different type of election. with a stronger dem candidate.

He also spent a few years saying he could fix it.

He marketed himself as a fixer and acknowledged the problem early

And your opinion is mistaken.

Chris which policies do you speak of?

I meant she wasn't making promises like ending the Ukraine war in 24 hours or deporting millions of immigrants.

Rhetoric (country doesn't buy MSM/Harris BS hyperbole, finds it despicable)

Immigration (It's always an issue but Trump has it in a good spot to make real progress and Biden/Harris undid it on day 1. Never recovered)

Policy (not that they didn't like it, she didn't have one. They knew they don't support the woke stuff)

People are generally tired of being bullied by the left. That's why we saw the shift toward Republicans in the younger age group.

She couldn’t say how she was different from Biden when asked

People didn’t like her in 2020, her time as VP didn’t help her any

Screw the rich isn’t an economic plan

Inflation denial by the Biden/Harris regime

Inflated jobs reports

Didn’t campaign on how she is good, just Trump is bad… that wasn’t enough for people to switch from Trump who already recognized he’s bad.

The voters* must have liked that.
*sorry, the “garbage”

1. Joe Biden's approval rating was under 40%. She wasn't able to disassociate herself from him.

2. Inflation. Even though it would have been just as bad (or worse) had Trump won in 2020, the average American didn't connect those dots and made Biden the scapegoat.

3. I was shocked by the exit polling from Latino men and "Independents" favoring Trump. Hard to pinpoint what caused that shift. Some portion of it can be attributed to misogyny, but that's certainly not the only reason.

The Democrats have been spending too much energy going after some middling centrist vote and forgot to excite people with populist positions.

Nailed it. Kamala spent more time catering to Republicans than she did her own base and got less Republican than Biden did in 2020.

1. Border, Dems had years to do something but waited until the end and blamed Trump when it failed.

2. High profile giving away money to forgive loans to college grads. Blue collar people hated that.

3. Too far left and not even trying to distance from it. Trans prisoners and men competing against women. It’s like common sense took a dump.

Trump says enough stupid crap. The left media didn’t help by lying about what he said and taking it out of context.

Laugh all you want. She might not even win the popular vote.

Chris Mathews gave some great comments on CNBC this morning. The strong coffee Democrats need to drink.

She was a "Bidenomics" cheerleader and placed that anchor around her own neck a while back. Then, she was trying to be a "Change candidate" while at the same time actually saying "I wouldn't change anything we did over the last four years." She was all over the place.

She then avoided every non-scripted interview she could (except for a late one at FOX which she did well at), feeding into the "word salad" label she had.

The difference between Trump and the last two Dem candidates is that the Dems are handled by their staff and are unable to be their real selves because they keep being told "what people want". She faked accents for crissakes. Trump listens to no one and is nothing other than his true self (which is an ass hole, I know). Huge disadvantage for her there.

So if Hispanic men are misogynists please explain why the recently elected President of Mexico says “Hold my beer”???

Good stuff because it’s all true,

I agree with this. If anything they need to realize this isn't going to ever reliably win them elections. Do what the other side did run to the popular ideas of your party and get the people excited about them. If running to the middle didn't win you this election I can't imagine one where it would. Find a charismatic messenger and sell the shit out of the popular ideas the left has.

List all the popular (🙄) ideas so I can start getting excited now.

What issues stand out as the main reasons you think she lost? Where do D’s need to improve for 2026/2028?
Rick Wilson said it best:

I know many of you are scared right now.

We left everything on the field, but it wasn't enough. Harris deserved to win, but Trump tapped the dark vein of hatred and grievance in America.

Tomorrow, you'll wake up in an America that wanted something darker and more cruel. The implications of what's to come are hideous.

For now, get some sleep.

It's a long road back.

Your examples reinforce my view that she was a bad candidate from the start. I’m saying I don’t think she was capable of overcoming her prior track record with voters because she lacked the capacity to do so. The number one issue is that Biden and dem power brokers made it so she was the only candidate possible. As an analogy - no matter how well Iowa plays vs Ohio State we are going to lose that game 9 times out of 10 because our personnel just can’t compete.

No amount of tactical improvement can overcome the strategic blunder Biden made by running again.

But you are claiming the voters held her accountable for it, why does Trump get a free pass for the things his co-speakers said?
Insult comics/Roasters... make insulting jokes, the POTUS doesn't get to call half the country garbage without some repercussions. He knew that, but he said it anyway because he's like KF at this point he's going to just speak his mind.
