Assuming he is eligible after the transfer sit out year, does Fran take a chance at former Iowa St Cameron Lard?

He has high level talent potential and would fill a roster spot needed in two years with Cook and Kriener leaving by then. It is also no guarantee Pemsl will avoid another injury.

Granted the downside is that he lacks discipline, but Fran has a little more control over his team than the guys in Ames do.

Fran has zero history in 9 years at Iowa in recruiting a grad transfer and as many players we have coming back next year I highly doubt he'll start now.
This is like asking if Fran will change his coaching philosophy and play more like Wisconsin to achieve a better defensive efficiency. Yeah, like that's going to happen.:D

Lard isnt a grad transfer. He would sit out a year and then have 1 season to play.

Transfer or grad transfer, frick or frack, it's all the same to me. One has to sit a year before playing the other does not. Either way, Fran believes in transfers of any kind, like he believes in fairy tales.

They are remarkably different, actually.

There are 347 D-1 basketball programs, the odds on Cameron landing at ONE of them are really good. The guy simply has too much talent for someone to not take a chance on him.

I think Prohm did what he could to help him, both as a player and as a person. I hope CL is able to figure things out and find success both on and off the court. I doubt it's in Iowa City though.

Just read on CF that Lard has hired an agent and is turning pro. Not sure if he has NBA talent, but can certainly make some $$$ in Europe or elsewhere. He has the talent, just hope he can "walk the line"

Let me ask you this. Do you think Iowa should recruit Lard?

I can answer that.

I don't think Iowa should recruit a train wreck like Lard unless they believe they had a support system in place to handle it and also strong enough leaders on the team to self police/hold him accountable.

With Lard's past demonstrated lack of interest in bettering himself, the last thing Iowa needs is someone like him.

The thing about it is that guys like Lard litter the transfer portal every year. It is all about knowing who you are recruiting and what you are willing to deal with.

For those that keep wanting Fran/staff to go after the transfers.....the percentage of players that are worth it isnt very high.
