Considering how stubborn the wrestling community is as a whole, do you really think you can convince him otherwise, now that he has made up his mind? He firmly believes who contacted his former wrestlers and how it was done, constitutes cheating. Although I disagree with him, it's a very touchy topic and the methods used make it so. There is a fine line between being an independent "booster" and actually being a representative of the wrestling program. I can see how the aggrieved could see it as the latter instead of the former...
Someone did not do the same thing with Drake. Someone *attempted* to do the same thing with Drake.
The "thing" is poaching wrestlers. Drake was not poached. He's still a Hawkeye. If he was now in black and orange, this place would have gone nuts over it and you know that.
He can think they cheated all they want but posting it on Royce Algers Facebook post is a bad look. He should focus his gripes with the NCAA and judges who have made it clear Boosters can contact athletes. It's crazy how many coaches just ignore the elephant while having tunnel vision on everything Iowa does. With that said, I think most of us would prefer the old system where you recruit guys, and see them get their chance as they develop. Penn State changed the game year$$$$$$$$ ago. Finally others can legally try to catch up. The old system is gone.
Don’t have an issue with anything in this post. Everyone deals with things differently when they feel they have been wronged. Would it have been better if he took the high road? Probably. But, there really was no love lost with Iowa before that happened and the transfers cemented that stance. Even if you could convince him it was petty, I don’t think he really cares at this point…

Yes everyone would be mad if Drake left. Would they call OSU cheaters - that would be a damn hard thing to do after we got Teemer and Parco in the same way. Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. We can only go off of what did happen. Which is that OSU attempted to poach Drake and everyone pretty much understood why they would attempt to do so

Wrong! OSU did the exact same thing. ASU wrestlers chose to leave, Iowa wrestler chose to stay. The wrestlers did something different, OSU and Iowa did the same.
The Iowa fanbase is very often hypocritical. So is the PSU fanbase. And every other fanbase.
For years, Iowa fans criticized PSU for "recruiting over" guys and showing no loyalty. Now?
For years, we said the only reason PSU is so good is because they have so much money. Now that Iowa is throwing around millions of dollars? Nothing.
We criticized PSU for taking on Andrew Long. Then half this board was all for Ferrari.
It's almost like Iowa fans....are just gonna side with Iowa on whichever side of whichever issue the team is on in that moment.

There are a LOT of my posts that are in no way argumentative. I just tend to post more "vigorously" when I strongly disagree with a certain topic or believe a certain position should be defended. Although poorly written by myself, that was contextual to that specific situation. I was saying that I did not want to be right and was hoping I was wrong. I was simply stating what I thought I saw, knowing being correct in that situation would be the worst thing possible.
Still, if you want, I will concede to the “gotcha” and give credit to those that spent the time to go back and find that.
But, again, I will fall back to one simple thing, I don’t post to make friends. If you don’t like me or how I post, you are welcome to disagree with me, dislike me and/or even ignore me. None of those will hurt my feelings, nor will they change me in the slightest.
Ferarri and Long are not close to the same thing. Iowa fans were upset about Long because he was an alcoholic who needed help. iSU was trying to get him help(rehab), but Cael took him away from the help he needed and got him into jail.
Agree, nobody is going to respect our staff or credit them for any of the success these 3 wrestlers have this year. There are other schools paying transfers but we are the poster boy. Reminds me of the old “J.R. Gable” poster from the 80’s: the team you love to hate. Use it as fuel.
