It should be the best turnout yet for Night of Conflict 3 on Friday, October 13, at Carver. All proceeds go to the HWC.

You probably saw that Chief started a thread seeking volunteers to help set up and tear down for the Night of Conflict. Set-up will be from noon to about 4:00. Doors open at 6:00 and wrestling starts at 7:00. So after you're done setting up and before you settle into your seats to take in some fantastic wrestling (or if you don't have time to help set up but just want to have a good time), what to do? We've got just the thing for you. . . .

How about stopping down to The Vine for an Iowa wrestling social? We're hoping to pack the place with Iowa wrestling fans. Great chance to meet some fans, talk about the upcoming season, and just have some f***. The plan for now is 4:30 to 6:00. Stay tuned for other possible info on this event that could make it even more f***.

It's a great way to spend a Friday night in October! Maybe bring some family and friends and join us! Hope to see you there.

Tickets ($100 for VIP, $25 for floor seats, $10 for general admission for adults, $5 for general admission for students 5-18, free for kids 4 and under):

Bump for the NOC, and for the social. . . .

We're trying to get a rough head count for the social, which should be a great time. Please spread the word on this. The plan, for now, is to hold it at The Vine from about 5:00 to about 6:00. We're working on getting some folks from the HWC there to mingle with fans and maybe say a few words to the group. Would obviously add a lot of f*** to the occasion. Will keep you all posted on that.

If you think you can make it, would be great if you could post how many in your group plan to attend. I'll start off -- I'll be there with a group of at least 3.

Working on confirmation, but it's looking like Coach Perry and a few HWC wrestlers will be there. Will share details as they become available.

Hope lots of you diehard Iowa wrestling fans can make it down to The Vine for some f*** before the NOC!

CHANGE OF PLANS:
New venue:
University Athletic Club (on Melrose, next to Finkbine golf course)
New time: 4:30-6:00

Turns out The Vine's private room is booked. bbwretler has been hard at work finding an alternative spot, and the Athletic Club should work out great. He pulled some strings, and the venue will be free of charge, plus there will be no minimum spend, etc. Also, it's still quite close to Carver, basically just up Melrose. Plus, parking will be much easier than at The Vine. There will be an inexpensive burger-and-fries type buffet and a cash bar. Should work out great.

Still planning on having a crew from the HWC show up, which will be fantastic. Will specify names as soon as they're available.

Of course, anyone coming to Carver to help set up for the NOC is more than welcome to join us. See you there!

ONE FINAL CHANGE TO THE PLANS FOR THE SOCIAL BEFORE THE NIGHT OF CONFLICT:

The group that had booked The Vine has backed out, so we figured we couldn't turn down The Vine, given its ideal location relative to Carver. So, to review the plans for the social before Night of Conflict:

Where: The Vine (we have their private loft reserved)
When: Friday, October 13, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Who: All Iowa wrestling fans welcome! Also, we now have commitment that Mark Perry will be there with multiple HWC wrestlers, adding to the f***.
What: A great time for Iowa wrestling fans to meet up, talk wrestling, and hang out with Coach Perry and some of his athletes
Why: Because it's F***!

Also, The Vine has agreed to allow anyone helping to set up for the Night of Conflict to park at The Vine and leave your car there until after the Night of Conflict -- a pretty nice perk if you're helping to set up.

Finally, we're looking for a rough head count for the social. It's going to be a blast. If you do plan to attend, would be great if you could post that you're planning on it and how many others will be joining you if you happen to be bringing friends.

See you at the social!

See you at the social!
I and 4 others plan on attending.

I will be there with a couple others. Looking forward to seeing Caleb Rathjen get payback on Gomez from Illinois for Fargo. Caleb's Dad, Kirk, was in my group last week at the golf outing and said Caleb is wrestling welll and will be ready.
Awesome, Kujawa! Looking forward to seeing you, meeting Kirk, and watching Caleb get the W!

Bump. If you're planning on attending the social, would be great if you could post it here, along with how many others you expect will be joining you.

Thanks!

Not only will it be a great time with fans, coaches, and wrestlers, but the social will also be an informal "welcome home" party for world silver medalist Thomas Gilman. If you're a diehard wrestling fan, the social and Night of Conflict make for a darn f*** night -- you won't want to miss either.

I'm going to try to make it, thanks for setting this up!
Speaking of pre-competition socials, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are plans in the making for much bigger pre-meet socials. More to come on that. Needless to say, should be a lot of f***.

Damn wish I could make this event and meet some of you guys but unfortunately local Friday night football has to take precedence. Hopefully HR can get something like this to be a reoccurring thing for home meets in the future.
