Hall performed pretty well at the end of the season last year. I am actually far more afraid of the safety/Cash posiiton. Lutmer was a major issue last year, and Xavier has been from from outstanding. I really hope Weisskopf steps up to fill that Cash spot.
The DL should help a bit, hopefully this year they have a better rush than they did last year.
I would agree. As a rule, I know thats not Kirks "MO" to promise starting, but obviously we've been in dire need of upgrading the QB room for awhile, and it appears Lester has made some positive moves. Fingers crossed...
Large announced earlier he was using his extra year of eligibility. Good piece as a FB/TE..
How would you know. Exact same scenario as when Campbell left and Jay Hig had never started or played much. And by the way he's really high on Sharar
Exact same situation as when Campbell left and Jay Higgens had never started or played much. Everybody said he'd be good. Then he's an AA in his first year. Now Higgens says that Sharar is the real deal.
Just like 2 years ago, and the guy who stepped in at Mike was an AA in his first year as a starter. MAYBE the coaches know what they have.....
Cool, I hope he's right. I'd heard and seen some of Higgins before he was a starter, felt good about him stepping in as a starter, especially with Nick Jackson coming in. I've not heard/seen much of anything on the current 2.
For some reason I thought he played three seasons at Dordt followed by two here. He must have redshirted a year at Dordt?
Edit - he did not redshirt at Dordt. I wonder why he was granted a sixth year of eligibility without a single redshirted year.
Yeah, either way, like you said he is nice depth at TE and the few FB snaps that still exist in Lester's O.
I remember watching Higgins get burned multiple times against USC guys going out for passes, and thought he would suck.
Boy, I was wrong. They just had him doing something he wasn't best at.
If Higgins says Sharar is the real deal, then I'm excited about that.

There were times when that kid was in that I was afraid he was gonna get personal foul flags. He goes to the whistle and sometimes maybe a little past.

Lutmer was pretty good for a young player, he will be fine.
Don’t think the Athletic Dept will have to pay for that, maybe part of it. It will help the parking situation a lot. Will also be used by the Dental School and hospital employees.
Harrell will be very good as well.

Phil’s great, but he’s limited to playing those on the roster. We may not have anyone better than Hall at his corner spot..,.but that just means our other options are even worse/too inexperienced.
For anybody interested in Large's eligibility, he was granted a sixth year due to the recent court case that resulted in the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility to players that had spent time at JUCOs. The decision granted an extra year not only to JUCOs but to all players who had used part of their eligibility at non-NCAA schools. Since Dordt is NAIA, Large was granted an additional year and will now play his sixth season of college ball without redshirting any of them. Pretty wild.
According to who? Other players and coaches? What else would you expect them to say? None of these guys had any major offers.
What would you expect him to say? "I'm not real high on him" They wouldn't say that. My reasoning is more of the collective group as a whole. Not individuals who may or may not have the endorsements of other players or coaches.
Thanks for that. I remember that case. Some stud juco guy got all of his eligibility reset.
What I do know is we've seen this quite a few times. Guys that rarely played at LB, and then get their shot after waiting in the wings and end up as studs, and several of them AA's. Morris, Angerer, Jewell, Campbell, Higgens....
Good point, but Hall might also have improved. Time will tell.
hope you are correct but the listed DL doesn’t inspire great confidence in me. 4l flashed a bit but no obvious all b1g type.
I don’t know, Graves should make a push for a big Senior season and I think we will be able to have a strong rotation of 8 guys in the DL next fall. Hurkett is a solid DE and Llewellyn should be outstanding this year. Pittman has some good experience and we brought in 2 good DT ‘s in the portal. I think the defense will be pretty salty again !
