I don’t know, Graves should make a push for a big Senior season and I think we will be able to have a strong rotation of 8 guys in the DL next fall. Hurkett is a solid DE and Llewellyn should be outstanding this year. Pittman has some good experience and we brought in 2 good DT ‘s in the portal. I think the defense will be pretty salty again !

Iose should be ready as a pass rusher too.

What I do know is we've seen this quite a few times. Guys that rarely played at LB, and then get their shot after waiting in the wings and end up as studs, and several of them AA's. Morris, Angerer, Jewell, Campbell, Higgens....

He did, and I don’t think he had to wait much after that either. He played when we had a thousand LBs get hurt in 2010. He was on the field as a Freshman for the debacle against Wisconsin.

What would you expect him to say? "I'm not real high on him" They wouldn't say that. My reasoning is more of the collective group as a whole. Not individuals who may or may not have the endorsements of other players or coaches.

We don’t know what we have right now. I would say, however, that Iowa has a strong tradition of having good to at least average LB’s. The guys that are in now have spent their time behind guys that did it well. They weren’t going to play over those guys no matter how good they were. Learning behind solid players and working hard knowing your time is coming and you need to keep a tradition going can make a big difference on a player. I expect there to be a a learning curve and some moments where mistakes are made, but I wouldn’t expect that position to be a liability.

This is where he should have started. Good athlete, but the kid had really limited experience as a WR in high school and was being recruited as a DB by others.

Kid was pretty eclectic with the ball in high school. I am not disappointed to see him in the secondary at all though.
