Preseason All Americans Comparison

I am sure they are good players but the Michigan love seems a bit much.

3 seems like a bit much, but hard to argue against of them individually. Peppers probably has the weakest case, but he's also probably the most explosive athlete on defense in the country. His stats last year weren't much, but his highlights and raw ability are off the charts. We will see if he can up the production to match the talent this season. Jourdan Lewis lead the nation in passes defended last year and was PFFs highest rated CB in the country in pass defense. Jake Butt was 2nd nationally in receiving yards for TEs last year and the leader was a 2nd round pick in the draft so he leads all returning TEs.

While Michigan took their 8 year hiatus, the other Big Ten Teams weren't sitting around with their thumbs up their rectums! Even Donald Trump cannot take America back to the days when the Big Ten title is decided at the Michigan/tOSU game.

Of course the sports writers do not know that. They are still living in rhe 20th century!

Sounds like Michigan is going to be unbelievable.

Michigan's defense will be unbelievable. WRs and TEs will be excellent. OL should be really good. Lots of options at TB. Only question is the QB. Major place to have a question, but that's really about it. Fortunately Harbaugh has a very long track record of getting good QB play.

Tell us more about this...I can't recall any standout still left on that defense from last year - who am I forgetting?

Chris Wormley, Jourdan Lewis, and Jabrill Peppers are all studs and first team B1G caliber players. Lewis is probably the best DB in the country not named Desmond King. Plus, they add the top overall recruit in the country on the DL who is an athletic freak. They will have a very good, well-rounded team. Certainly not unbeatable, however, especially for a team with the amount of talent returning that Iowa has.

You can have the most talented team but if you have nothing at qb can limit you, point and case LSU last how many years held back by lack of qbs. For Harbaugh and qbs he lucked out getting rudock as a 5th yr transfer and 2 yr starter in conference. And his last qb at Stanford was Luck so I think any coach would have had success with him as long as they didn't have him in the triple option. Michigan with their schedule really won't be tested till later in the season but have to play Michigan st, Iowa and OSU all on the road this year.

Andrew Luck was a three star recruit. Harbaugh had a lot to do with his growth, it wasn't like a monkey could just plug him in and get those results.

Jourdan Lewis got some All American nods last year and is in the running for the Thorpe.
Jabrill Peppers is perhaps the most athletic defender in the country (USC's coach compared him in HS to Adrian Peterson as the best he's ever seen)
Ryan Glasgow was probably the best interior DL in the Big Ten last year
Chris Wormley is all conference caliber DL
Maurice Hurst is one of the best interior pass rushers in the country
Brian Mone was supposed to be the starting NT but missed the season with injury
Taco Charlton is a very good pass rusher at DE
Channing Stribling and Jeremy Clark are both really good CBs, especially as the #2 and #3 on the team
Dymonte Thomas is a former elite recruit at S with blazing speed that came on strong last season

In short, Michigan probably has the best DL in the country. They'd be elite even without adding back Brian Mone and #1 overall recruit Rashan Gary who probably won't even start. The secondary is also in the conversation for best in the country, though I'm less certain of that. LB is a bit of a question, but they've got some pretty good options and with such a dominant DL in front of them they will likely perform pretty well.

They return most of their playmakers (and add several more) to a defense that ranked #4 nationally in total D and #6 in scoring D. It'd be a surprise if they aren't better than last year.

I agree QB can limit a team. It's a big question. Michigan is set everywhere else, but that big question remains. The only fortunate thing is they have several options with experience they will be picking from.

Andrew luck was a 5 star on scout and a 4 star on rivals.. You can easily look that up Stanford 2008 recurring class he was consider a top 10 qb in that class don't know where you got he was a 3 star.
