President Joe Biden has ordered the American flags at the White House and on other federal ground be flown at half-staff as "a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence" in Atlanta this week.

I’m with you guys in thinking this is not appropriate. I absolutely sympathize with the Asian American community on this, but it would be hypocritical for me to support lowering flags. I jumped on Trump’s ass whenever he broke flag protocol, so I can’t support this, either, though at least Biden’s breach of etiquette is coming from a good place.

I completely agree racism has to stop, but there is no evidence this had anything to do with race. I know the knee-jerk reaction is to attribute everything to racism when a disproportionate number of victims are minorities, but it doesn't do anyone any good to do so without evidence. The shooter himself said it wasn't about race.
Do we need to find better ways to combat sex trafficking which largely victimizes Asian women? By all means, of course we do, but calling this a hate crime or a racially motivated crime without evidence distracts from that agenda.
