Pretty Good Defense

The defense was pretty good for us but the rebounding was what impressed me.

We’re normally so soft but we scrapped & battled for rebounds today.

That’s hands down the toughest that we’ve played as a team all season long.

Playing with that kind of toughness will win games going forward like the loss at Rutgers & P State.

We’ll see if we can maintain it.

Iowa has been a fairly tough out except for a few games. I gave them no chance to win this game but I guess you cannot ever count them out. Considering the way the game was called (LOTS of contact allowed!), I thought it would end as a frustrating defeat. Really happy for the team that they battled through it for the victory.

Iowa starters had 11pt deficit to start the game and gave up a ton of points in the paint....after that Iowa vastly outplayed OSU. Even the starting lineup was even with OSU starters in 2nd half.

The backup lineups built most of the lead.

Yeah the starting lineup all i'm hoping is for them to tread water to start both halves. At the under 15 subs is when kick it into gear usually.

Haven't been online today so I'm not sure it was mentioned, but that was a very good defensive effort. Add the rebounding effort and that is how you win games.
Today was all about defense and rebounding, as are most tough games. Hope Fran buys into that with his line ups going forward. Play the Murrays 40 minutes a game each!

This team is not going to be known for tough defense, obviously, but they have shown the ability to turn up the intensity for stretches at times this season. Finding a way to make that more consistent will dictate how the season shakes out. Tough to win on the road when you shoot twenty-something percent from 3 and just over forty percent from the field, but luckily they were even worse. Have to think defense played a role in that.

This team knows how to score, but if they go cold the defense needs to keep them in it.

The thing limiting Murray combined PT should be foul trouble. When Kris plays the post, he is going to get a lot of the ticky tac fouls that Rebracca normally absorbs. So Kris has to also play some of his minutes at the "3" where less likely to pickup fouls.

What Fran has to avoid is having both Murray's in foul trouble and having to go minutes without either of them available.

After the Indiana game and Kris put up 29pts and won that game, I think Kris had 12 min the next game.

I would say Kris PT willl inch up, but I think Fran is pretty stubborn. His 1st sub usually isn't until the 2nd TV timeout, so since Kris doesn't start, that usually means he misses the first 8 minutes of each half.

Frustratingly enough this is about exactly as I thought would happen. They’d piss away a big game like Michigan and then just when I’m ready to bury them , they go and pull this. Just keep winning enough to keep me engaged . Just can’t figure this team for sh!t.

Arguably this was a bigger game than the one against Michigan.
