Well, that guy is an idiot who gets absolutely owned daily by Ron DeSantis in his pretty white boots as he teaches master classes on management crisis. Also he's a MAGA moron.

North Dakota’s governor also ordered flags at full staff for Trump’s inauguration. Sounds like there’s quite a few more.

According to @uihawk82 he is just a prick, a scuzbag, a piece of shit, non-human, etc etc. I'm not so sure though.

What do you got?

I disapprove.

I've been a Newsom fan for a while, but he's done a few things in the last year or so that have lowered my opinion a tad. This is another of those.

I think a good argument can be made for raising the flag for the inauguration - so it isn't the actual flag raising that bothers me - but since the Rs did it for political reasons, I'm disappointed that Newsom is giving them cover.

He wants something out of Trump.

Doesn't mean that Trump isn't acting like a petulant child like as he so often does.

He needs the aid to flow. Unfortunately we have a vindictive little baby in office in a week and it’s the price these governors have to pay.

What…did you watch the DeSantis vs Newsome debate. It wasn’t even close…DeSantis win easily. It was essentially over when DeSantis said that even Newsome’s in-laws moved from California to Florida.
The poop map did it for me... but yeah that was also awesome...

The fact that Gavin's wife had to come in and pull her husband off the stage because he was beaten to a bloody pulp is telling.

I’m looking forward to Trump fixing it all.
Years of bad policies and failed leadership can't be fixed by Donald Trump. But I do hope that he makes good decisions and the federal government under his direction gets the people of California the help they need. Work the problem first, deal with the failed policies and politics after. For now, all Trump has is owning the libs, in a few days this mess becomes his job to clean up and it's going to take more than memes and truth social posts.

Trump isn't responsible for "cleaning up" California. Give them the natural disaster aid that all states get and that's it.

California has to figure out the crime and homelessness issues in its own. (Which, after pressure from voters, they seem to be moving towards)

a reasonable take. But i think newsome is doing a lot more than giving the R's cover. I think he's sending signals that he can be a non-crazy person for the future, that can recognize the significance of the national inaugration at practically no real cost. The rebuild there is going to be a real challenge on many many levels - trump/congressional interference/roadblocks, olympic pressure (including international pressure "not" to renege on whatever environmental and other commitments they've made as part of the games), crazy real estate speculation, socioeconomic tensions, and of course the simple logistics - he's going to be even more formidable as a frontrunner. Minimizing the silly noise is a no brainer if you ask me.

I disagree. I am not trying to convince anyone though. It's my opinion.
I honestly don’t know, maybe you do, is it written in the constitution or some other legal binding document that says the flag HAS to be half mast for 30 consecutive days? Is this just tradition?

Would I feel differently if it was Regan or Bush or some other R? I don’t know. This FEELS like something to arm wrestle over that lacks impact. It’s just a way for the left and right to argue over something fairly meaningless in the big picture. But death by a million paper cuts is still death. So is this one of those things that isn’t really a big deal on its own but just adds to the squabble, or is it just that it’s Donald Trump and this wouldn’t be an issue if it was Obama or Biden making the demand as part of their ceremony?

I wonder from the left how much of this is people who actually care about the Flag and or Jimmy Carter… and how much of it is TDS?

From the right, I wonder if this is an argument worth wasting political capital on?

This seems like an opportunity for Trump to reach across the aisle and keep the flags at half and work in his admiration and to honor a democrat at his ceremony…

The problem for Trump is he’s worked himself into a corner that even when he does the honorable thing, he gets no credit for doing so, the TDSrs will just find something else they don’t like.

It's written that flags need to be at half mast for 30 days after the death of an ex president. It's also written that flags need to be at full mast for an inauguration. Guessing nobody thought the 2 would coincide.
