I honestly don’t know, maybe you do, is it written in the constitution or some other legal binding document that says the flag HAS to be half mast for 30 consecutive days? Is this just tradition?
Would I feel differently if it was Regan or Bush or some other R? I don’t know. This FEELS like something to arm wrestle over that lacks impact. It’s just a way for the left and right to argue over something fairly meaningless in the big picture. But death by a million paper cuts is still death. So is this one of those things that isn’t really a big deal on its own but just adds to the squabble, or is it just that it’s Donald Trump and this wouldn’t be an issue if it was Obama or Biden making the demand as part of their ceremony?
I wonder from the left how much of this is people who actually care about the Flag and or Jimmy Carter… and how much of it is TDS?
From the right, I wonder if this is an argument worth wasting political capital on?
This seems like an opportunity for Trump to reach across the aisle and keep the flags at half and work in his admiration and to honor a democrat at his ceremony…
The problem for Trump is he’s worked himself into a corner that even when he does the honorable thing, he gets no credit for doing so, the TDSrs will just find something else they don’t like.
