Pryce Sandfort Comp?

Guy at work is from Waukee & says he plays like Ben Simmons. I asked Nets Simmons or Sixers Simmons & he said Sixers.
That's all I got.

The more important question is whether he's like Ben Simmons defensively.

For all the hate Simmons gets, he is a 2 time NBA All-Defensive First Teamer
I was impressed with the one game i saw. He had 3 or 4 blocks and was fundamentally strong on defense. Just 1 game though but if any of our freshman can contribute it willbe great. I think the 2 bigs definitely have a chance. Pryce has a great shot and definitely won't redshirt imo.

I've seen a few games of his. Last year at Ames, and two tournament games this season (Waukee and Valley). Of these three, the one that impressed me the most was his performance against Ames. He really demonstrated a complete offensive skillset in that game (getting to the basket off the dribble and hitting threes). You could tell he had those tools against Valley as well but any time he started to drive, Valley would send 2-3 defenders at him and force him to pass, otherwise he would have gone for 30+ in that game. He didn't impress me in the Waukee game going up against Billiew (who looked great). It was kind of a weird game, though, in that Sandfort had to sit on the bench with fouls for most of the first half and his team went on a huge run without him. To his credit, he didn't screw up their offensive flow by forcing a bunch of shots in the second half. He nailed a couple threes but also attempted one layup in the 2nd half that got thoroughly rejected by Waukee's center. I didn't like seeing that. I was also troubled by the fact that, in the Valley game, Sandfort guarded Valley's center for the entire game. Valley's guards gave Northwest major problems all night (the center didn't do anything) but they never switched Sandfort onto one of the guards and I worry that they did this because Sandfort isn't quick enough to stay in front of guards. Or maybe they were conserving his energy for the offensive end / didn't want him to pick up fouls? It was puzzling.

In terms of comp, Wieskamp (or maybe Payton Sandfort) is probably reasonable. I don't know if Pryce has the same jumping ability as Wieskamp (Wiezy could get up) but it's easy to imagine Pryce coming in and contributing on offense right away (if he gets the minutes), just like Payton did. Like Payton, there's more to his offensive game than just three point shooting. My concern is defense: can he stay in front of guards?

Probably around the same height as Joe W but thinner. Like almost PMac freshman year thin. Won't blow by anyone but is crafty with the dribbl and can get to the hoop better than his brother. Quick release. The ball is over his head and out before you know it. I kind of thought a taller thinner Dix but I'm not sure.

Simmons is 6'9 and well built. He is also allergic to jump shots and might not even take a three if his mom's life depended on it. Pryce can light it up like his brother.

I forgot Wiesy had one of highest verticals at the combines.
