Pryce

Pryce ceiling may never top his brothers best games but his floor is much better and he seems to be more team focused with shot selection and better positioning or defense. Glad to have him back.

If Dix came back BM might be able to hit the ground running.

Was Pryce or Koch getting a lot of interest and money thrown at them? It may not cost as much as some think. Have either visited anyone. I know their agents will present as if they have.
Good question. Perkins got $450K last year and Coleman Hawkins got $2million, so there are teams out there willing to overpay. Pryce's shooting percentages are good.

IF Iowa has $5 million in NIL, maybe we spend $300K on Pryce and maybe more if we can't bring back Dix. It's like a Cap limit in pro sports..

Pryce probably can breakout and have a 16ppg junior year like his Bro did. It's not that Payton had a terrible senior year---its more that we had too many players of the same type of slender size, and moderate athleticism so that we didn't defend/rebound well enough.

Yes, this is all speculation.

It will be interesting to see how much Iowa players improve their weaknesses. Pryce was not a good defender and had problems staying in front of the guy he was guarding. Traore was erratic and would make good plays and then make a stupid play. Koch seemed a little slow on defense, but I really didn't see enough to know about his quickness. Dix really just needs a coach to say 'go do it to Josh', so he plays with a little more aggression and confidence. He is already really good on both ends, and I think he would make an enormous difference in BMc's first year. I really liked the transfer from Miami tapes, and I hope he is still on board.

Add those guys to the top 4 players from Drake, and I think Iowa is only a couple more players away from being very good. A true center and a quick guard would be great pick ups in the portal

Can you imagine the change in BM BB system from Fran's. I do not think it is going to be as slow as some on here think. But it will be a new experience for Iowa players on the emphasis on defense and rebounding. Now in BM offense they move the ball and look for a good shot.
Players will have to get use to what BM good shot is compared to the green light good shot of Fran.

Should be fun to watch the adjustments needed.

Drake wasn't as slow as many have suggested. Drake still averaged 70 points a game and BM has stated that he had to slow it down this year due to personnel.

Your right, he is very good at looking at his players and adjusting his style. But I think shot selection may look different He is not going to handcuff his good shooters, but there was a lot of freedom in Fran's shot selection.

Have him back? Thought he was 50/50 and is visiting Nebraska and Illinois?

I know a lot on the board want him back, but I am not so sure - although my opinion is based on limited time watching him play. Obviously if BM wants him, that’s good enough - it might be more about depth here out of the gate though…😎

In Nov and Dec (almost all of last year) I would have agreed 100%.

Pryce played a lot better towards the end of the year and where he really impressed me was getting to the rim and finishing. I didn’t think he had that in his game.

If Pryce stayed at Iowa, I think he could add value as a sub. If he left, I think Iowa should be able to replace him.

Saw it on FB and discounted it because it was from IBN
Hold your horses, youngstir ! I cited IBN last Saturday when everything was in doubt - but IBN said McCollum would be our next basketball coach. And he is! ;)

Cooper has either visited, or plans on visiting, DePaul. That's all I've heard regarding him.
He won't go to DePaul. Their campus life is whack compared to Iowa and they have significantly less money than Iowa. I know this because I worked for DePaul for more than 8 years.

Their offense was a ton of motion. It was working for the best shot and NOT shooting too quick

Yes, but Chicago is a helluva town. Probably too much temptations for a 21 year old college kid.

I loved Fran’s offense. His defense, not so much.

I posted this in another thread but posting here to as it pertains to Pryce (didn't see this one first)...

Per poster on TOS so take it FWIW...

Tidbit: The NIL for Pryce seems to be pretty even among offering schools and don't expect that to change much. Was told he has been asking Iowa about the coaching staff, sounds like he is still very much on the ropes but not near as gone as I would have thought the other day!

I did hear something else but I'm not going to vouch for it as it didn't directly come from someone I trust, but I did hear Fran had a good conversation with Pryce and family late this week and gave him some encouragement and told him Iowa still might be the best place for him!

Very cool of Fran if true (and I tend to believe it, he looks out for his players and IA was pretty good and fair to him over the years I think)...

say what you want but behind the scenes Fran was first class with his players and coaches. They were all very loyal to the man. Speaks volumes of his character.

I'm A-OK if Pryce decided to move on.
But if BMcC wants him, then so be it.
Even more so than with Dix I wouldn't break the bank to get him to stay.
I'm on the other side of the fence on this one. Price has knocked down some big shots, especially in the second half of the year. He shows an ability to take his defender off the dribble and with a good defensive minded coach, could be very good on that end of the court. Really hoping he returns.

Assuming they are still together, Pryce’s girlfriend from high school attends Iowa. That has to help keep him.
I heard he worked out in my cousin’s boyfriend’s sister’s gynecologist’s basement gym with Dix and he wasn’t impressed. Trust me bro it’s totally legit
