Has anyone here bought one for yourselves or your family yet?

If so, how is it? Are the graphics and/or gameplay appreciably better than the PS4?

NDallasDaughter wants one, but it seems like a lot of work to find one right now.

Curious if it's worth the hype. Thanks!

I’m going to get my boys a used PS4 now that people are upgrading.

does buying the games matter or can they just be downloaded? They play fortnite on their iPads now.

I sold my PS4 for slab money over the summer after 3 years and maybe 10 hours of video games and hundreds of hours using it as a really expensive Roku.

I think that buying used games is better/ cheaper than buying the games online from the playstation store. Probably 3/4 of our games have been bought used. The only ones we buy new are the ones the daughter really wants - the most recent is the Assassins Creed Valhalla, which seems to be really good so far. Beyond that we're content to wait a month or two before picking up used copies.

sure, $69 is my max offer

I’ve been looking at FB marketplace and the prices are dropping fast!

I'll be trading it in to GameStop this weekend and upgrading to the PS5.

One thing I'm glad they did this time was to make games backwards compatible, so that PS4 games will be playable on the PS5. Which is nice, because my understanding is that PS5 games went up $10 in price - same for Xbox console as well I believe.

got it. So I buy a used PS4 would it come with down loaded games? Or will they transfer to the PS5?

I got the Digital Edition, but it's a gift for my boys so it won't be opened until xmas. That said, the games out now are nothing special, most will be upgraded versions of the games currently available on the PS4. It will likely be 6-mo or longer before some good titles meant for the PS5 are out. But, by the sounds of it not many will have the PS5 until then anyway.

Does Gamestop give you money for the system or do they just do store credit?

I think downloaded games would be tied to the user's profile, so you wouldn't buy a ps4 and get whatever the previous user had downloaded.

I guess maybe there could be saved game data? But I'd have to think gamestop has a process to wipe them before selling them.

Xbox series X is compatible with every game ever made on the Xbox console.

But good luck in buying one for market price before the holidays. The bots buy it all up so fast when they restock online

The hard drive formatting process is built into the PS4 OS and you do it through the settings menu. Takes a while to do. Mine took like an hour.

That’s basically the story with mine. I bought it to run PSVue and it eventually paid for itself with the money I saved not paying for Cox cable. It came with Star Wars Battle Front, which I might’ve spent 90 minutes collectively playing. I suck at it. Then the kids I coach were all into Fortnight so I downloaded that and sucked at it, too. Now that PSVue is kaput, it just sits there. Give me my PS2 and NCAA Football games or my mini Nintendo and SNES and I’m a happy guy. I’d consider buying a PS5 if they brought back the NCAA Football series, though.

I've seen that's been a big problem with Walmart.com - there's nothing at all to keep bots from buying them all up when they become available. I guess Walmart doesn't care because they're moving units, but it sucks for people wanting to buy one.

Yah I have tried a couple of times when they have it in stock and they are sold out in like 3 seconds. There is another restock tonight that I am going to try. I really don’t want to but I may have to pay more than I should on eBay or the marketplace

I'll try again to beat the bots for one tonight when Walmart restocks them but I'm assuming it will go like the last time and I'll get shut out. I'll wait until I can buy one at original price I won't buy one of the scalped ones. I have a ps4 and xbox one so I'm not dying for one immediately.
