Pretty cool. Is the Starship always planning on having a splashdown in the ocean or is it ultimately designed to land vertically or on land on its belly? I mean, I guess if it is designed to go to Mars it would need some way other than a splashdown landing. Maybe they can land vertically on Mars but not on Earth because of the differences in gravity.
Ultimately vertical. The ocean landing was for testing and safety purposes until they could be reasonably assured it would survive re-entry and not immediately explode upon landing.

They had a launch Thursday from Cape Canaveral. I stood on the balcony at our condo in St. Augustine and watched it. Pretty cool and CSB.
So, SpaceX continues to rock out. That's undeniable. Why would anyone hate that? Will anyone honestly tell me why?

I would own a Tesla by now, and always thought SpaceX was awesome….but once he made his political views very clear I would never support one of his organizations in any way.

I don’t think anyone hates Space X. I think it is still great (unlike Tesla which I feel is starting to struggle). I do hate Leon’s incessant over promising and acting like he is the brains behind the rockets and the folks stating the government could never do this without recognizing Space X is now over 20 billion in government from the federal government.
SpaceX provides launch services to the government. Without SpaceX’s services the USA would still be begging for rides from Russia to get to the ISS. They aren’t getting a handout like your framing suggests here. Be honest. There’s a difference.
