We just don’t know who yet.

We now know that a decision has been made and Purdue has a starting quarterback for Saturday against Iowa. There is white smoke from the football practice facility, but do not expect Jeff Brohm to come out on the balcony and reveal the starter. First of all, he is sick and in quarantine. Second, it was announced that the starter will not be revealed until Saturday:
Will it be Saturday morning or will it be around 3:30pm when the first huddle breaks and the offense steps on the field? I am guess the latter. As we know, it has been a three-man race. Jack Plummer is the seeming incumbent who lost the job due to injury. Former walk-on Aidan O’Connell did a great job of even distribution of the offense each according to their needs in three starts to finish last season (as well as the game-winning drive vs. Nebraska in the final minutes. Graduate transfer Austin Burton is also in the mix.
My completely uninformed opinion is that it is Plummer. He had some rough spots last season, but overall did fairly well for a redshirt freshman getting thrown to the wolves after Elijah Sindelar went down. My second choice would be O’Connell because he finished last year so strong, and I wouldn’t be disappointed if it is him. Burton is still such a mystery, but he has reportedly done well in practices here.
We might even see two of them:
There is precedent there, as Sindelar and David Blough split time in 2017.
