Hey all,

I know this has been discussed a couple times in the past, but we are going to the QC area in a couple weeks and would like a few recommendations for a place to eat dinner on a Friday and Saturday night. We are looking for a good local place (no chains) with perhaps a fish fry/ supper club type one night and a more upscale or nice unique place (one with locally sourced ingredients if possible) the other night.

I looked on Trip Advisor and many of the top rated places were chains such as Texas Roadhouse and Granite City. Number One was The Machine Shed which we have been to and were not too fond of at all.

Central Standard in Bettendorf is a new place with great burgers and beers.
Hemispheres Bistro in Bettendorf is the former Red Crow Grille. Upscale, pricey.
River Bottom Chop House in Port Byron. Upscale, pricey.

We really liked Central Standard...ate there last week. Pulled pork nachos are insane.

I have been to Thunder Bay on North Brady St.
It is a first class restaurant with an expensive menu.

I'm not seeing multiple Michelin stars, and you can get entrees for $15-$25 and a $15 brunch buffet.

We obviously have different definitions of first class and expensive.

Thé most expensive restaurants in the QC have entrees that cost 15-25$. I bought a delicious steak at Thunder Bay. Cost40$ for just the steak with mushrooms and onions added. And the "breakfast buffet" is only on Sundays and it's fantastic

Thank You WildTurk for commenting on your $40 steak.

Obviously Ping72 could not digest the entire menu.

Thunder Bay is OK
Stephenson's is good but more for old people
Front Street is very good but pretty casual
Chop House is very very good
Bass Street is just OK and over-priced

My wife and I have eaten a Mo Brady's a couple times recently. We both thought it was pretty good. There seem to be a LOT of old patrons there, not that there's anything wrong with that...

It will be interesting to see how successful "Hemisphere's
Bistro" on 53 St. in Bettendorf will be. I hope to try in out
soon. They are closed on Sunday, and only open Saturday
night. Regular lunches and suppers Monday through Friday.

We tried it a couple weeks back and came away impressed.

The executive chef is a former chef from back in the RCG days. Different menu and the quality is back.

RCG lost its quality a long time ago.

Would recommend.

Thanks for all the recommendation so far. Any ideas for an area classic fish fry or just great walleye/ perch?

St. Alphonsus' fish fry in West Davenport. Nothing is better. Besides the fish they have the best grilled cheese sandwiches on the planet.
