Why haven't we put up a respectable passing game? We had quality QB's Rudock and Beathard. Both had above average Offensive line and quality Running back's. Then I look South to Texas Tech with Iowa transfer Nic Shimonek with a NCAA #4 ranked passer. It's not talent. It's development, play calling, scheme, and so many other things other than our QB's. It's coaching.

is that why Rudock and CJ are both in the NFL. OMFG Stanley is just a TRUE SO and you posters are throwing him under the bus
That's exactly what were talking about these guys have talent and ability. NFL talent but we're just not fully utilizing them in our systems.

 time to get real and get off Fantasy Island with your overbloated expectations.

Iowa should have gone 13-0
Stanley should have 4500 yards passing
Wadley with 175 APY
And Jewell averaging 14 tackles per game — oh wait that’s actually happening.

Do you guys realize we have OL injured and young? And we’re running against 8 man fronts. And our execution has been awful — fanning on blocks, running around with nobody to hit, getting beat to the point of attack.

It’s a combination of things, and it’s up to the coaches to figure out what comes first and next.
But, it’s tough to do when receivers are barely open, our QB is not extremely accurate, our OL has the challenges they do, and our best TE isn’t 100% healthy.

That all adds up to a limited offense, which is what we’re seeing now.

Watch. Weigers and Boyle will both graduate early and be successful elsewhere. Ironic if it was against the Hawks. Ferentz set precedent when he allowed Rudock transfer to Michigan (Big10). Those two are better than a bunch of Big10 QBs.

the biggest injury was to RB Butler, Butler helped in dealing with 8-9 man fronts, Butler will be back in time for the NW game, but the real problem are Poster UNREAL expectation for this years team

BUT BUT you and other wanted GD run off and here it was his coaching that got those 2 into the NFL, THEN KOK came back and things were going to get better now that GDGD as some of you were referring to Greg Davis

funny how GD put 2 QB's into the NFL in his 5 years. Shimonic was GD's 1st QB recruit out of Texas and QB Mansel was his last. maybe Davis did know what he was doing.

That is why they are succeeding in the NFL....they were in the Iowa system. But when you have better receivers, line, and rules really steered to the the offense in the NFL it helps. But blaming (what I do not know) on the Coaches is so easy when you are looking at a kid that has started 4 games at the college level.

The quarterback needs to be mobile and have the
ability to run with the ball on occasion. Most QB's
are sacked because they are too focused on just
one receiver. A QB needs the knack for throwing
long bomb for a touchdown. If all the QB does is
hand off the ball to a running back, then you are
going to lose more games than you win.

Champions don't make excuses. Excuses are being made. Which means we're not champions. Hire a coach to make us champions. Slippery slopes aren't a problem when you build stairs.

Exactly. Along the same lines, running backs also
need to be able to run well. They should be hard
to tackle. Our receivers should also be fast and be
able to catch the balls from the QB with a knack for
throwing touchdowns. If we combine these three
things with an offensive line that has a knack for
blocking well, then our offense should be able to
score a decent amount of points, which is what you
are looking for from an offense.

On the defensive side of things, we need players
that tackle well. When the opposing team tries to run
the ball, we need to tackle them before they gain
many yards. We also need defensive backs that are
good at covering wide receivers which will make it
difficult for opposing offenses to complete passes. If
the other team's offense cannot run the ball or pass
the ball well, then our defense is in good position to
prevent the opponent from scoring points.
