WOW LOOK AT THOSE NUMBERS!!

Friends, it comes to no surprise Iowa State continues to move in the direction fans have accepted as being "acceptable". For years, I have been blasted by my own. I have shared my opinions and thoughts about the program and its so called leader, often times supported through results and opinions. Today, it comes to no surprise where the program is at and the results that have come along with it.

The excuses KJ has delivered over the years has now been accepted and echoed by fans. Fans are now using excuses for what would be considered atrocious results over the last 6 years. As I shared years ago, JP does not care for the sport and it is a shame we have allowed this to happen for as long as we have.

I am not here to say "I told you so" but rather the results ISU has had is a true reflection of the head coach. You can put together a "soft" schedule but your true weaknesses will be exposed when you compete against the top tier programs. JP and the ISU fans may have been fooled by KJ's scheduling last year and the results, but having a schedule we have had over the last two seasons has not helped the wrestlers especially during tough competition.

The numbers don't lie and the style of wrestling is down right embarrassing (62 takedowns to Iowa's 166!! or 52 stall calls!!). Again, I do not fault the student athletes competing but rather the lack of leadership we have failing to develop and produce results. And before you can say "Queso, KJ has signed a great recruiting class...." you have to develop those recruits and help them transition to COLLEGE WRESTLING!

Last, can you imagine Jeni or Michelle Brands making comments about Coach Gable's commentary

Again, friends thanks for letting me share my thoughts and for listening. I miss you all and wish I could get excited about wrestling season, but when you have a program like ISU well you get it.........

that attendance number is just as frightening. That is almost cut in half. No one cares about this dual anymore and that is awful

I am not sure how much of an impact this was on the meet attendance, but for many years I remember the IA-ISU dual on the first Saturday in December. The Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend would seem like a formula for fewer attendees.

I'd venture a guess it being a non-competitive snoozer had a lot more to do with it. Had this been a match up of the glory days they could have had it thanksgiving day at 2 pm and they would have drawn more than 5600

Holy hell. Is that really KJ's wife trashing Jim Gibbons? If so, that's absolutely shameful. Gibbons is a Cyclone, through and through, and an absolute ISU LEGEND. He's the last to coach ISU to an NCAA title and was twice the coach that KJ is. He hardly favors Iowa and works very hard to say positive things about ISU which isn't always easy. He also works with a complete dolt who's little more than an ISU shill (though it is the Cyclone Network so I get it).

If YOU were an ISU fan, would you go today and witness what absolutely everyone in attendance knew was going to happen? Unless you're a parent of an ISU wrestler... you ain't going.

I really think ole sunshine pumper Buf would have a difficult time saying something positive about that pathetic display today. No one is buying what KJ is selling... at least in the room. I know a nice scholly offer entices a few good kids from time to time.
Some say ISU has a nice recruiting class for next year. ISU has had highly rated recruits before... Meeks, Finch, Cozart, to name a few. Not a one of those kids did anything on the mat after they arrived in Ames. Hell... 2 of the 3 transferred out.
I hate ISU as much as the next guy. But under no objective criteria could you say something positive about todays ISU performance.
You are judged by your results. KJ, as a head coach of a team, is a miserable failure as far as wins and losses.

She's defending her husband because, like everyone else with a pulse, SHE knew what would happen today. In this case... she resembles an unnamed parent of a current wrestler who also needs to stay away from public forums and social media. Any good spouse will defend your loved one, but her going social media is a very bad idea under any circumstances.

In basically every match they did not respond to KJ's coaching & begging for them to compete! I'm not sure what goes on in that room but they are not trained or mentally prepared to compete at the same level we are. The later in the meet it got KJ was also being broke & coached less & less..... that would never happen with our coaching staff! Thank You to Tom Brands & company for putting a group of guys on the mat, no matter win or lose, compete & fight the whole time!!

Anybody else remember KJ spouting off after an Ia/ISU dual meet that a Cyclone win was indeed forthcoming over the Hawks? This was 2 years ago, if I remember correctly. How laughable is that?? In all honesty, I have hit the point of just feeling bad for the program. 10 years ago they were our marquee matchup. Now they're nothing more than a punching bag. Shame on you, ISU, for signing this fraud to an extension.

Consider the source--Robin Jackson. Please bring back wrestling to Iowa State and the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry--It's what this sport needs. GET RID OF KEVIN JACKSON!!!!!!!

He's still there because Pollard has his hands full trying to keep MBB and Football head coaches. Pollard doesn't give two shits about wrestling. That may change if the wrestling program has more police blotter issues combined with lousy mat performance.
If I were KJ... I'd keep my resume' updated.

Not only does KJ have to battle the elements of a Cyclone lackluster performance in Hilton today, he's now got to deal with his wife's poor judgment of getting involved on social media, as MitchL eluded to in an earlier post. As the infamous Cris Carter states often on ESPN---C'MON MAN!!!!!

How bad do you have to be to have Iowa fans wanting you gone. Lol.
Well... in all fairness, the only Iowa fans wanting him to stay are the ones that enjoy beatdowns and knowing who will win before the dual starts. At ISU... in my UNOFFICIAL tally... from the grand total of 27 fans who still follow collegiate wrestling, 13 want him gone, 9 don't care, 2 think they'll never find anyone else that wants the job, and 3 support him(Buf/Judoka/KJ's wife)

And speaking of buf87, where you at brother? Shacking up with Jackson's. lol
Buffy hasn't even responded to the CF crowd yet, so it might take a few days for his excuses to siphon on down to us.
I can pretty much predict the responses from him if he has the intestinal fortitude to post his comments here...
1. We're a young team, but we'll be better come March
2. Some of our guys were sick with the flu.
3. When we get Downey and Harington back we're gonna be tough as nails
4. TW is still adjusting to the cut, as is LW.
5. I like the fight of our new guys against the Hawk upperclassmen
6. There was a glare and our guys couldn't see the scoreboard
7. KJ has strep and the guys couldn't hear his intelligent instructions
8. We should have erected the curtain to limit Iowa fans
9. The ref is related to the Iowa equipment manager and...
10. Not everything is doom and gloom... we didn't get shutout!

knowing that the meet wouldnt be competitive and the fact that the DB isu athletic dept decided to charge $20 is why i didnt go. the isu AD can gf himself.

The weird thing is that no sport has more available qualified coaches than wrestling, because there is no pro version to suck away the top coaches.

I just realized that Gibbons was Jackson's college coach.

Stay classy, Jacksons.

KJ shows up late to the press conference. No surprise, he has been showing up late to practices and meetings why would anything change. KJ puts all the blame on his wrestlers - lack of effort and confidence. Look at how he conducts himself in the corner or after his athlete is walking off the mat. Why would you want to fight for a "coach" like KJ? Blames Hall's decision on picking down in the third period, KJ wanted him to go neutral. KJ continues to put the blame on the athletes and lacks accountability when it comes to results - wait he does and will acknowledge the success of Varner, Zabriskie, Reader, and Gadsen so the same should be said for his team's performances. Everyone thought I was crazy when I was saying JP doesn't care about wrestling or if JP could he would eliminate the sport from ISU. The problem is, nobody cares, wrestling does not generate the revenue and isn't worth the time/investment into finding a head coach.

Talk about timing, KJ sure has a horseshoe up his...., yesterday's performance is overlooked by the recent new hire of the football coach, last years NCAA's results and KJ's job saved by a heart surgery. God loves wrestling as it was shown on November 14th but damn he sure hates ISU Wrestling!!

FYI - if you want a great laugh read the comments on Iowa State Wrestling's facebook page. Nothing like parents, family members, fans arguing about results.

As always, thank you Hawks for allowing me to discuss wrestling and the sport I am passionate about. You are like the hot step sister I wish I had!

False if you watched his press interview you'll see him get a bit emotional while saying he takes full responsibility for what transpired yesterday though there is no excuse for the way the cyclones "competed" yesterday

NYWrestler94 when did that happen, at the end of the press conference cause he was too stupid to realize he sounded like a jacka$$ for calling and blaming others like he has been doing the last 7 seasons. Never KJ's fault always someone elses.

You wonder what makes queso melt is having to read comments and idiots throw out excuses like this......

Buf87 "I think we got mentally destroyed. Cooper messed with Nardo's headgear the whole time after Nardo got that great takedown and frustrated Nardo." REALLY, Tom/Terry Hawk nation please tell Cooper not to mess with our guys headgear

Buf87 "Conditioning (physicially) is there. Remember Dane just went 6-1 (I think) at Nichols Open." HUH??!!!?!?!!

Buf87 "We need to quit putting emphasis on this dual. We are not ready for it. There was no need to raise the mat. Wrestle it like any other dual." You are right, we need to schedule Midland, Boise State, Michigan St., Utah Valley, Penn, you know the power house programs. Sad thing is these programs are catching up to ISU!

Pysclone51 "You don't call for a coach's removal because you are unhappy with one dual. Look at Ferentz in Iowa; the boo-birds were all over him in 2014, calling him more than a few not nice names and demanding he be removed; he was too old and outdated; the football world had passed him buy. Today, they are singing his praises, as he takes them to the B10 championship t'ment." Wow put the crack pipe down.......

Buf87 "Just to clarify things about KJ not showing up for the press conference. I am 99.9% sure he and the staff and the team were having a long talk about the performance. Listening to the interview, it was clear KJ did not want to be there. And many of us were not enjoying the end of the dual." Lets be honest, sure he had a long talk but also I am sure he didn't want to go to the press conference either. I mean someone has to be um um uh uh um running out of excuses!

Buf87 "If anybody went to the Social, most were gone when KJ and staff and wrestlers got there. KJ was visibly upset as were the wrestlers. Nobody wanted to talk and as soon as KJ was done speaking, it was over." Again, shows up late to practices, to meetings/office, to press conference, to his own Social. Signs are there!

I mean people have to be laughing and enjoying this sh!t. I know at one time I was embarrassed but now like anyone you can't help but wonder what ISU fans are going to say next!

And for the record, Meeks should have been the guy at 141 this season. I stand by it. He has never really been given the opportunity to wrestle, train, compete an entire season with the exception of his true freshman year. What KJ has done to him mentally, is 100% KJ's fault. The problem is, instead of WORKING to develop him both technical and mentally, it was too much WORK and instead took the easy route. Don't give me the "put the best guy on the mat" how many true freshman in the last 40 years have been phenoms? After putting together the list of true freshman phenoms (which I am sure is less than 10% of college wrestlers), the odds are still in favor of redshirting incoming wrestlers. The moves KJ has made clearly demonstrates DESPERATION.

And why didn't Boston compete yesterday or even against Midland/Boise St? Weight issues, that is when you either have him move up or make the weight and compete. Sure it may not be a great performance but you get him to make weight and get matches (experience) - eventually you develop habits and adjustments instead of allowing it to linger until the second half of the season.

I know Queso's nuts!

Emotional?! I thought he sounded like a beaten man with no answers. Anyone who defends anything KJ has done with that program are fooling themselves.

When other fan bases become apathetic, especially Iowa fans, there is a problem.

As a proud Iowan, I'm embarrassed.

Really enjoyed your outstanding post. In fact, your opinion is generally always spot on. And if you happen to fall short at times, you acknowledge it. The fact of the matter is MOST people don't like the truth. I also like how you substantiate your viewpoint with documentation. Nice work!!!! Now DISMISS Jackson.

Anything even questioning ISU wrestling gets you banned on their boards. Not a lot of other places to go. And he's not wrong. I was as anti queso as there was when he first started coming around but when it comes to KJ he's been Nostradamus

yeah mn. I get it and there were guys here calling for him, but it's kind of like bitching about your wife to the hot bartender hoping for some sympathy.if any of you guys go to bwi and trash brands I would lose respect for that person.

"Times Change!" I know this is a concept that can get me in hot water here, but it is 100% true. Sanderson leaving crippled the program. KJ was brought in to pick up the pieces. Add in that ISU is no longer the draw it used to be, and Sanderson saw this and left for PSU. At it's best, ISU was 2nd to Iowa in in-state recruiting and now has to compete with UNI for that honor.

You now have powerhouse programs with high quality coaches at tOSU, Cornell, Virginia Tech, Illinois, Nebraska and most recently ASU. Add in the mainstays at Minnesota, PSU, Iowa, OkState, Michigan, Edinboro and Wisconsin and you have 13 legit schools that I don't see WHY ISU SHOULD BE clearly ahead of any. Finally you can throw in Oklahoma, UNI and Lehigh as their direct competition.

Why would any of the coaches above want to leave their respective programs to go to ISU? Do you truly think they would do better at ISU than where they are at now?

Simply put, short of a gigantic young hire with super powered recruiting possibilities(Burroughs, Dake, Taylor or maybe Perry) or established coaches like Sanderson, Brands, Smith, Koll or Ryan(NO WAY ANY WOULD LEAVE) ISU isn't getting back to a TOP 5 Power any time soon...........
