Question about Nebraska fans

Should have kept Danny Hope!!!!!!!! He was a good guy. His last year he only had a winning record, made a bowl, and had some good players and recruits. My son-in-law said after last game they won, I believe it was the bowl game, Hope was walking around with the trophy and a big ol' cigar and a smile in the locker room. Next day, hes gone.

Heck I cant remember, maybe he got canned before the bowl game.

So let’s get this straight. Do any of you truly think if Iowa or Purdue had won multiple national titles in the 90’s that neither one of your fan bases would have aspirations of reaching that level of play again? Even as a long time Husker I have a hard time seeing us getting back to that level but I don’t see why believing we can put together a team that can hang with the big dogs of the big 10 is so delusional.

Yes, they are the worst and most delusional fan base. They were rather pompous a couple decades ago when they were good (back when they recruited very talented players that weren’t eligible at any other Power 5 school, their “classy” coach O was hiding his players guns from police, their players would be passed out drunk behind the wheel at stoplights and the police would essentially ignore it.)

No way. Brohm has them playing basketball on grass like classic good Purdue. Purdue is in good shape with Brohm (with a bullpen of QBs, wait till they get another great Big Ten QB). They came in to Kinnick last year and schooled our secondary (a pride of our defense). Any defense can humble our offense with a good scouting report and a focuse. We will be favored in all of our games the rest of the year with the exception of PSU and it's only because of our man-ass DL rotation. Our DL is a problem for 95% of CFB teams. Doesn't matter against Purdue unless we can control the ball a bit on offense. They can score.

Disagree. Minnesota can't get out of their own way. "Elite" is not winning anything in the Big Ten. I guess we have a different view on things compared to other programs, retaining 2 coaches for 40 years, but firing Glen Mason was stupid. Kill was a good coach and, unfortunately for him/them, his health impaired his career. Purdue hired a good coach and they're not impatient and they're putting things together. Indiana has more prep talent than MN. Purdue will be a player in this division. And never an off week for good Iowa teams.

We are going to crush Minnesota today in an old-fashioned ground and pound. The points O/U is stupid. Does Minnesota crack 150 yards of offense? Do they hold Iowa to under 200 yards rushing?

We’ve played for years and years.

Ever since ferentz started Iowa has surpassed Purdue. I was shocked when we won last year and will consider us underdogs this year.

Sooo... we played Nebraska last week, and uh, I thought I was related to some people who have delusions of grandeur. But to me, husker fan is delusional on a level that Indiana fan can only dream of.

My question is, have they always been this bad? Or was there a time when their self image was more in line with performance?

Reading their board, there are people who think that they just fell asleep against Purdue and blah blah blah. They regularly compare themselves and what they can be to Ohio State ...

Who said big ten title game? I just think we have a chance to win 8-9 games next year. The poster I replied to was talking about how some Purdue grads thought we’d win the division. That is a delusional take by anyone who has it, and even next year would require every bounce and call going our way if we played our best.

But the other part is just not accurate. Purdue just has a much better coach than fleck and if Brohm left would be in position to hire.. a much better coach than fleck.

I don’t get cocky with fans of (obviously) Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. I don’t get cocky with fans of Wisconsin, Iowa or MSU (although that town is hiding a lot off the field.)

But when I think of nebraska thinking they’ll just play Purdue next year and reclaim their birth right... I’m like bro, we retain Moore and Hopkins next year.. graduate outside receivers who were all two stars who barely lived up to that, and they’re going to be replaced by insanely talented fr/rfr (for us) with a coach who knows how to use them. If Nebraska double covers Rondale Moore next year, they’re gonna have problems.

They just seem to think the 94 huskers are gonna show up, take a nap, and win 42-3
