I was told by a friend that they are checking the student section now to make sure you actually have a student ticket if you sit there. Is that true? I find that odd because I graduated last year and they never did that when I was there.

They have done things like this before in past years, but it rarely lasted even the whole season.
At the gate or in the section? I graduated in 2012. My first twoish years, it seemed like they'd let anyone in the gate with a student ticket. You'd be stopped at the student section if you didn't have a student ID. The last three years, it seemed like they stopped caring at all.
I've only been at one game this year- Pitt. They didn't ask for my ID at the gate, and I saw no one being asked questions in the stands. It could have happened and I may not have known. I was trashed. I highly doubt it, though.
Even when they ask for your ID at the gates, if you don't have it they'll let you through.
I don't understand why it's a huge issue anyway. It's not like there are fake student tickets floating around. If people want in the student section THAT bad, they'll buy a regular ticket and walk right in.

She was mostly referring to being checked at the student section. I don't think I ever saw people being checked during my time there. Plus, since it's North Texas, I doubt the student section is going to be full. I don't see why they would check for this game.
By the way students.....great job of being loud and proud for the Pitt game!!! Fill it up again tomorrow. Would love to have the team feel great support again on Saturday to help them come out of the gates smokin' and ready to go!
