I get a lot of hot babe lifting shorts in my facebook, and I keep seeing a bunch say to skip stretching. Strop stretching. Don't do static stretching.

What am I missing here? Usually I do a 5 minute warmup, and then i do some stretches to loosen up a little.

Why is what I am doing advised against?

Unless you’re training for the Mr. Olympia contest, lighter weights with more reps is the way to go. I like the pyramid training technique used by Jay Culter. Oh, and of you want to die, look up German volume training or FST7 by Hany Rambod. Pyramid training allows you to warm the muscles up properly.

All I ever did before lifting was get the blood pumping a bit. Sometimes with really light weights. 5 minutes of the treadmill or whatever.
Typically i do some box step ups or high knees while holding a kettle ball above my head, box jumps, lunges, and some mountain climbers while holding onto a half-exercise ball thing.

Then I do some stretches.

I would get the blood flowing and muscles loosened up and then get right into lifting. If you want, I would stretch after lifting as it appears too much stretching prior can actually hinder performance. Personally, I never stretched before lifting or after. Lol. I had read an article some 30 years ago that the Bulgarian Powerlifting team never did warm up sets or anything so I just stuck with that. Lol. For most of my years I was benching up to 395 with a personal best of 440 at a weight of 195. Not sure if those decisions took a toll on my shoulders, though, as now I have pretty bad tendinitis in both shoulders and need a shoulder replacement. 🤷‍♂️. I do a lot of warming up now at an older age. 😂

Pre-workout, it's OK to do dynamic stretches like high knees, lunges, etc. in addition to other warmups like running, jumping jacks, etc. Static stretches should be done post-wokout after your muscles are warm to prevent injury.

*I dont lift heavy anymore.

*I dont know what today's science actually says to those very engaged in the workout community.

In my head Stretching isn't as important as just getting slightly warm before going into exertion. Like I would rather move for 5 minutes and get loose than ever sit and do a stretch "cold." As part of the movement I like stretching exercises even as simple as "move for a few minutes and then touch your toes to let your back release.

I think stretching post workout is very helpful for keeping loose muscles.
