Chamberlain sophomore Nash Hutmacher has received a football scholarship offer from the University of Nebraska, the standout multi-sport athlete tweeted on Saturday.

The offer is the first for college football for the 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive and defensive lineman. The Cornhuskers are entering their first season under new head coach Scott Frost.

Hutmacher was an all-state selection for the Cubs in Class 11B in 2017 and was dominant on both sides of the ball. On offense, Hutmacher did not give up a sack in 177 passing attempts, according to information provided by the Chamberlain coaching staff. Defensively, Hutmacher had 20 solo tackles, 47 assisted tackles and 19 tackles for loss, with five sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Hutmacher has made a name for himself on the wrestling mat, claiming the Class A heavyweight state championships in 2017 and 2018, going undefeated in both seasons. Last summer, he won the USA Wrestling Cadet Freestyle National Championship. He was also the top-ranked sophomore heavyweight wrestler in the country, according to InterMat’s rankings and No. 9 overall among those at 285 pounds. Hutmacher was awarded as The Daily Republic’s wrestler of the year in 2017 and 2018.

Our heavyweight wrestler recruit Cassioppi(sp?) beat him this spring. But it was a very competitive match. I have no idea what sport he chooses in college but he probably will be the highest heavyweight wrestler that class.

Iowa has a great history of success with wrestlers from the Dakota's. McIlravy, Lewis etc.
