  • First play went for 22 yards. Thought we might score 50.
  • We fumbled a lot. Covered one or two and a penalty saved us on another.
  • Canzeri was called "fast" and Iowa was "fast" in the ESPN highlights.
  • I know many people already do this, but go back and watch the FB/WR blocks on those two TD runs. On the second one, Tevaun blocked well after the usual WR will hold a block.
  • Kirk had a sideline penalty. For unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Hit on Tevaun was scary. Cannot believe he played again.
  • I'd rather have CJB's 97 yds passing vs TA's 297 and 4 INTs.
  • Parker Hesse. Kind of a big play.
  • I'm buying what Angerer says about Jewel. Kind of wish we hadn't had that PF penalty after his INT.
  • Old Kirk stays with players. Like sticking with King on punt returns after the fumble.
  • I was worried that new Kirk was going to go for it on 4th and 1 in the fourth quarter.
  • It seemed fitting that Krieger-Coble covered the onside kick at the end of the game.

agree on the fb/wr blocks- their blocking has been outstanding all year. i love watching the fbs blow people up. having both fbs healthy has been one of the difference makers this year.

I believe he said something along the lines of he (jewell) is better than I was
W/o looking it up, someone made the comparison btw the two and Pat replied, "No way, he's faster / more athletic...He'll be playing on Sunday for a long time."

Was yesterday the "old Kirk" fans grew frustrated with over the years? The second half play calling was very, very conservative and Nebraska just couldn't make Iowa pay for it. It was the kind of game called by Ferentz for years that really frustrated the fan base, no?

His hit on Neiman was scary...I couldn't believe Neiman got up. I did like that he was pushing the Nebraska trainers away...not sure he knew what he was doing at that point. Damn.

He had no idea where he was, who we was, or what day it was. He could not even stand on his own.

Agree. On a run up the gut yesterday, Cox totally blew up a NE D-lineman, opening up a nice hole. Was absolutely beautiful. Cox and Plewa are punishing blockers. They dish out a ton of hurt.

I think a little bit. If KF gets a lead and thinks his D has the advantage(Armstrong) he will play that all day. It is hard to believe Nebraska doesn't have a better option than Armstrong, even a 2 QB system would help.

The big secret is that the only thing that has changed is his confidence in his players and staff. Play calling has not changed one bit except being more aggressive in the last few minutes of the first half

Most of Armstrong's short passes were pretty good and that's where he got his yards from. Why they ever let him throw it deep, especially into the wind, I'll never know. We were praying he would throw it deep every time he dropped back. As soon as ball came out of his hands on the deep throws you knew it had a chance at getting picked, it just floated. He was actually lucky he didn't have 8 picks since a few were dropped.

Both hits to the head I saw the Nebraska trainers by the player's side instantly. I was very impressed at a job well done.

Agree I thought the training staff showed more sportsmanship for our players than the rest of their program. Geery was out there celebrating long after the play was over on his launched body hit to the helmet. It was a scary hit and the type that can do permanent damage. Hope he enjoyed his senior day in the showers.

I wasn't too concerned. You could tell he didn't want to take chances throwing and his goal was to chew clock. If Nebraska scores with 7 minutes left by a field got or converting that 4th down then presume the play calling would have changed. Nebraska secondary was what we should have attacked more but didn't need to....

I particularly liked the "bend but don't break defense" that isn't old Kirk it is vintage Brashier.

UNL trainers were classy, but every training staff does that - at least every game I've seen. It was bizarre to me that their safety was so surprised that he was ejected - what did he think that delay for replay was about?

I don't see it as "classy" or unclassy. They are just doing their job, like Iowa medical staff would. Nieman was seriously wobbly and he was trying to stay in game, but was in no condition to stay in game.

The head shot on Tevaun was not classy.

Nebraska, no surprise, seemed to have fresh legs through the game. It was tremendous that the team matched their intensity throughout. In a sense, it was like watching the friskier and more energetic fighter get beat by a weathered veteran.

  • Kirk had a sideline penalty. For unsportsmanlike conduct. (And for good reason. Huskers were illegally lined up/motion. No flag.)
  • Old Kirk stays with players. Like sticking with King on punt returns after the fumble. (Best players play, right? King didn't have a good game though. That PF was on him too. Definitely gonna need to re-focus before next weekend.)
  • I was worried that new Kirk was going to go for it on 4th and 1 in the fourth quarter. (Probably would've gotten it with the QB sneak. Unfortunately, a little too far to risk it from inside Nebraska's 20. It was more like a full yard than the nose of the football, like against Wisconsin.)
  • It seemed fitting that Krieger-Coble covered the onside kick at the end of the game. (Yup. He's come a long way over the last few years. Seniors making plays.)
