1. LSD looked a lot like Shonn Greene last night. Wow. This was the first time I thought, yeah, he is our best RB. He is a beast and deserves 20-25 carries per game. Canzeri/Wadley 8-10. Wish Wadley could pass block t earn some catches out of the backfield.
2. Loved watching Tom's post game celebration video and seeing all the interaction between players. CJB and Wiegers, Mitchell stopping by the student section, the players enthusiasm. Love it.
3. Our scheme is allowing for some big yardage lately. Minnesota's FS and SS were constantly within 8-9 yards on most plays. Despite that our OL is so good we still managed a great night on the ground. Our FS and SS are consistently 12-15 yards behind the LOS on most plays. I know that's "our philosophy" but as the game went on and Minnesota continued to find gaps between our LBs and safeties, it was frustrating that we didn't adjust. I know our bend-but-don't-break style has allowed us to win every game, but when a team has figured out where to hurt us and we don't do anything, it is frustrating. We struggle against TEs if the team wants to use them.
4. Great atmosphere on TV. To all of you there, it looked and sounded insane on TV--great job.
5. I think Kirk was looking down at the beginning of the interview because we was trying to not get emotional. He has held it together pretty well after games, but I guarantee if we beat Purdon't and Nebby he will tear up after the game.
6. Why were we not in nickel or dime on the last drive??? I have no idea why we would have players who were more ineffective in passing situations playing over players who are more effective. The problem is I think it will take us getting beat to see any changes here. I'd rather be frustrated and not get beat, but it will probably take a loss before we change our base for nickel in obvious passing downs/possessions.
7. What will the Sports Illustrated article be like? Doubt it will be a cover, but.... what else happened this week/weekend in the sports world that would keep Iowa off a regional cover?

GO HAWKS.

1) LSD is a straightforward runner. My opinion. He is one option, not always the best option.
2) This team has swag. Not as much talent as previous teams, and more mistake prone, but intangibles all over the place.
3) Their rush defense was horrid. The play calling yesterday had me scratching my head. At one point I looked at the scoreboard and we were rushing about 6 yds a touch.
4) To me I still think Kinnick has room for improvement. It was decent last night, but no where near 2009 level insanity.
5) Kirk is Kirk. Same as always. No new Kirk. Argue that one away. Somehow. PLease keep the fb's and te's.
6) Disguised nickle once at least. I need to watch it again.
7) I hope there is no article.

I'm enjoying the ride. It's been too many games, and too many road trips the last several seasons with long car rides home full of disappointment. I'm as concerned as at any point this season after the last two games. I suspect PP will have a conversation with our RLB, and safeties. I suspect there is some coaching left to be done. To me, this is where the rubber meets the road. It took exactly until week 9 for other teams to figure out how to beat us. And I think you see more Indiana/Minny game plans coming up.

It is now 100% on in season coaching, and players on D stepping up to meet the challenge.

I'm not being negative. I think I'm being objective. I'll take a win no matter how ugly any time, but I have concerns going forward. Again, this team has swag, and even if they aren't perfect, I think you'll see every effort made at shoring up some obvious weaknesses.

Not sure why but the deep ball isn't working. I think Iowa has completed the deep ball about 2% this year.

Timing way off on the deep ball. I think CJ is just throwing it long(uncatchable)to hopefully get a interference penalty. I love CJ been a advocate for him since day 1 last year. He is a very good QB, but he has great in him. He needs to trust his receivers. He sits in pocket too long...he needs to get rid of the ball. Short and intermediate routes are what we have to rely on...
IMO our D needs to shore up some things... this will be our achilles heal going forward.

It is like the coaches have told CJ, "Okay, you can throw the deep ball as often as you want, but the first time you get one intercepted we are never throwing a deep ball ever again." So, he always seems to throw it long, where there is maybe a 10% chance our guy will get it, and a 0% chance of an interception.

Iowa is throwing deep to get the safeties back and open the middle of the field and get run game going .It is that simple.imo

Probably has more to do with CJ not practicing much than anything else.
