Ranking our players based on their total game on both ends of the floor. Adding value based on their position additionally.
  1. Bohannon. He controls the ball on offense. Debated putting Baer first. Put him first because we do not have an equal talent to back him up. He has game and balls. Not athletically talented to be in this position, but he gets it done...and will improve.
  2. Baer. Best all around player on the team. Scoring, rebounding, blocks, steals, hustle.
  3. Cook. Talented with size and strength. Will be fun to watch
  4. Moss. May be too high, but I am projecting here based on his potential talent.
  5. Kriener. Has the size and hustle. Can hit from anywhere and rebounds.
  6. Pemsl. He played hurt. He could be tied with Cook, when healthy, based on what he showed us when playing hurt. He is very crafty under the basket. Fun to see him outplay bigger defenders.
  7. Wagner. He is the glue factor. Similar to Baer in value to the team.
  8. Dailey. Has talent. Needs more strength and experience. Could be top 5 by the end of the year.
  9. Ellingson. Smart player, good shooter. Not athletically gifted, yet will carry us some games.
  10. Williams. Great defensive player. Has potential. Needs strength, better handles, and consistent shooting.
  11. Uhl. He was vital 3 years ago as a freshmen. But with more talented players coming in, his role will diminish unless he can improve his shooting and have a post move. He plays pretty good help defense and hustles on defense and rebounding. Needs some offense.
  12. Nunge. Not going to put any expectations on a freshmen at this time. Love what I have seen from the PTL highlights. He will be exciting to watch over the next 4 years.
  13. Garza. Not going to put any expectations on a freshmen at this time. Has length, size, hustle. Rebounds and can shoot out to the 3. Somewhat similar to Kriener. These 2 will battle it out for the 5 spot.

Top 5 Overall
1. Cook
2. Bohannon
3. Baer
4. Moss
5. Pemsl

The freshman class is very talented but with the possible exception of Garza, I don't believe any will have a major impact this season.

Too early to tell anything, but I don't see Wagner/ Uhl ahead of Garza or Nunge by the time league play starts. Minutes will be hard to come by and the frosh are the future. I don't see Dom offering anything more but experience. If the frosh can defend (always a ?) they get the minutes if I'm coach.

We only have two freshman.

In terms of value and not talent I would say,

1. Bohannon - The depth craters at point guard behind him.
2. Moss - Ellingson is a limited player and putting him beside Bohannon is a defensive nightmare. If Dailey improves a lot, this position would be in much better shape.
3. Baer
4. Cook - One of the most talented but at a position with the most depth
5. Garza - We desperately need an interior presence on defense. If he can provide it, he will be invaluable.
6. Ellingson - Somebody has to give Moss or even Bohannon a breather.
7. Pemsl - Talented, but at a position of depth
8. Nunge - Too much talent and skill to hold back
9. Kriener - Looks improved in the PTL but it's one game
10. Wagner - Limited. Doesn't play a position of need
11. Dailey - Hopefully, he's good enough to get minutes this year
12. Williams
13. Uhl

Baer is the best all-round player, if you consider all aspects of the game. JBo is our best offensive player, and maybe the most critical considering our lack of depth at PG. Cook probably has the most upside.

I'd put Bohannon, Moss then Baer. Other than that, Bro seems really close.

1. Cook - Most likely NBA player, most athletic player at Iowa since Ricky Davis.
2. Bohannon - Want him taking the game winning shot, or at the line late in contests.

3. Baer - Energizes the team. Multi-skilled, well rounded player. If Bohannon doesn't take the shot, I want Baer taking it.

4. Pemsl - Dependable, hard working, won't back down. Would be a double double machine if he played 30. Won't happen.
5. Moss - Still needs consistency to move up. NBA potential

6. Wagner - Every team needs somebody like him, defender, rebounder, improved greatly as a soph, needs to extend his range..
7. Williams - Has many defensive positives, love it when he posts up from the point position. If no back problems, another step up for him.

8. Ellingson - Role player, designated shooter
9. Kreiner - Spark off of the bench, much potential to move up my list
10. Uhl - Role player, not really great at any particular skill, except maybe as a point forward, if we need an extra handler.
11. Dailey - Simply unproven, don't see him ever getting a start, unless there is injury.

12. Garza and Nunge - By the end of next year, I speculate they will be players 6 and 7 on my list. If the team is to improve over last year they will need to be there. I think one of them will start relatively early in the season. The other will be 1st or 2nd off of the bench.

Top 10 by mid-season by minutes played with position: Bohannon (1), Moss (2), Baer (3), Cook (4), Pemsl (4 or 5), Garza (5), Nunge (3 or 4), Williams (1 or 2), Kreiner (5), Ellingson (2).

Love Wagner, but he needs to report to Kinnick, or quickly develop a 3-point shot to compete for the (3)
Uhl, spot minutes only
Dailey, deep bench, most likely to transfer after next season......or at semester. Connor and Joe will both pass him by winter of 18..

I think Dailey needs to add muscle. In the mean time, I think he has too nice of a stroke to not play. He will get minutes at the 3 or 2 spot. How much his defense improves will dictate his minutes.
