Just a quick HS rankings update.

Flo released updated its HS rankings after this weekends HS tournaments. Obviously, Spencer Lee and Jacob Warner are #1 AT 126 and 195 respectively. Teasdale moves up from #2 to #1 at 120 with Decatur moving up to 126. Tough weight, they have Decatur #9 (ouch). Max Murin sits at #7 at 132. Former Hawkeye commit Jason Renteria falls to #8 behind Murin. Aaron Costello is ranked #12 at Heavyweight. After is finishing 8th at Iron man Luke Troy falls out of the rankings at 160. Hopefully Troy can get his weight down to 152 and have a solid rest of the season.

#1 Spencer Lee @126 (#1 p4p)
#1 Jacob Warner @195 (#9 p4p)
#1 Gavin Teasdale @120 (#10 p4p)
#7 Max Murin @132
#12 Aaron Costello @ Hwt
HM Luke Troy @160HM

When was the last time the hawks had 3 #1 recruits? 3 top 10 p4p recruits?

Not a bad haul here gents.

You would probably have to dig pretty deep to find 3 top 10 p4p recruits in the same class. InterMat had Gilman and Skon in the top ten back in 2012. I don't think if you even combined the 2005 class that had Metcalf, JayBo, Morningstar, LeClere, Slaton there wasn't three top 10 guys.. At least not by D1CW. Maybe someone else had it.

Even finding three recruits ranked #1 overall at the same time is pretty tough in the Tom Brands era. The closest I can think of is the 2010 class that had #1's Josh Dziewa (135) and Mike Evans (189) and then #2's Nick Moore (160) and Bobby Telford (285).

Pound for pound that's not too shabby.

That's number nine of the top 140?
They rank 20 deep at each weight, so top 280. Even less shabby ;)

Although I think there is a fair argument for Warner to be #6 on the P4P, ahead of Nick Lee, Chase Singletary, and Brady Berge. Warner dominated Ironman surrendering only 1 point in the process, albeit not against the toughest field, but also has a Cadet Freestyle World Medal to his name, which is definitely a noteworthy feat. I think he has to be the favorite to make the JR team this Spring.

A lot of talent there for sure, but obviously Teasdale is not in the same recruiting class as the others, right?

If he drops down he'll gave Valencia/Martin etc. if he goes up he'll have Kollin Moore.

Teasdale isn't a part of this class... He's just a junior this year.
I think a lot of people lump him in because many expect to see him go as a True FR at 133 due to being old for his grade. Knowing what you do about the program do you think this will be a real possibility with a title contending team looking to be coming together for 2018-2019 season?

wasdt21 is correct, they do p4p regardless of grade/age. So basically the best hs wrestlers in the country.

If you break it down by grade level then Teasdale is the 2nd ranked p4p junior, behind Gable Stevphensen.

He will need to prove that he is ready and clearly the best option at his weight. If he can do that, he will get the green light.

There was no way I was messing with his first name! And if he doesn't come to Iowa I propose we look up his middle name and refer to him in that manner.
