I think this game and the Maryland demonstrate that raw talent beats experience most of the time.
Or, the teams at the top of the Big Ten win at home, most of the time....
Exactly. OP overreact much?Or, the teams at the top of the Big Ten win at home, most of the time....
Iowa was the best in both categories. So......
Two games at home = "most of the time?"
Gtfo with this semi-racist nonsense. Three of our starters were top 100 players and another would've been were it not for injury
Homers maybe. I don't think the Vegas line predicted Iowa.considering most people were predicting Iowa win, I think being underwhelmed by the Hawks is not over reacting.
We are right up there with Indiana and Maryland, but both those teams are more athletic and that is what beat us.
Most great teams have elite guards. Clemmons and Gesell are average (or a little worse).
I thought Clemmons played well and Gesell had a good first half. The difference was rebounding in the first half, free throw shooting and bench play. Most great teams have elite guards. Clemmons and Gesell are average (or a little worse).
Lol, if you think either team is more athletic. As posted below let's see how those teams would do in IC. Mary won't get the chance. Don't confuse race with athletic. Big difference.considering most people were predicting Iowa win, I think being underwhelmed by the Hawks is not over reacting.

Assume you're joking but not sure.Clearly the Indiana guys driving to the hoop at will were more athletic. Johnson, Williams, Anuoby pretty athletic group. Jok couldn't guard or get free for shot
Iowa struggles with athletic teams that play defense. Indiana turned up their defense in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half and Iowa began struggling offensively. I could not believe how many offensive rebounds they gave up in crunch time.considering most people were predicting Iowa win, I think being underwhelmed by the Hawks is not over reacting.

Rebounding in the first half was at least 67% due to the fact that we were MARRIED to the 2-3 zone in the half-court. For the entire half. I don't get that one. Same reason IU got so many open looks from 3 in the first half. I like it when Fran mixes things up and I wish I was privy to the information that made it sound like 2-3 was the way to go for the entire first half.I thought Clemmons played well and Gesell had a good first half. Iowa wasn't favored, but there was no reason they couldn't have won this game. Iowa did a poor job of boxing out letting guys run free to the hoop for put-backs, and Woody has never been a lane protector or shot blocker, so they had little trouble in that regard.considering most people were predicting Iowa win, I think being underwhelmed by the Hawks is not over reacting.

He's a big body and a good screener and rebounder. No one fears Woody close to the basket on defense. Nobody.Really?

Hammons is a lane protector. He had 8 blocks against Michigan State alone. Does Woody have 8 blocks on the year?
Woody is playing just fine, but a lane protector he is not.

Iowa is fine. We have a really good team. You play to your strengths, and if we do that we can beat ANYBODY.Jok and Williams are like night and day. Jok has a hard time creating his own shot. He is slow and has no handles, looks like a newborn deer. Williams on the other hand can create his own shot and score at will.
Jok needs to play to his strength and make set jump shots from the wing.
Iowa cannot beat more athletic shooting teams, Xavier, Maryland, and now Indiana.
The black and gold glasses finally coming off for some of us. Iowa is just not that good.
That Anuoby is a nice player, wish we'd gotten him. Just shows once again Fran has a great eye for underrated talent.Clearly the Indiana guys driving to the hoop at will were more athletic. Johnson, Williams, Anuoby pretty athletic group. Jok couldn't guard or get free for shot

After this post, I recommend a dishonorable discharge for the General.I think this game and the Maryland demonstrate that raw talent beats experience most of the time.
Lol niceI still haven't got over that Xavier loss this year.

Our bench gave us zip tonight as well, which was very disappointing. 0 points. Should have just stayed home I guess.
We've beat plenty of teams that are more "athletic" than us, so not a big deal IMO. It doesn't take a whole lot of athleticism standing at the free throw line either, and that's pretty much where the game was lost in the end.
I think this game and the Maryland demonstrate that raw talent beats experience most of the time.
It's disappointing Iowa's free throw shooting as a whole is terrible. ball and hand placement, follow through, concentration. All this talk about the coaches working on free throw shooting hasn't seemed to work so far. A good team doesn't shoot less than 70 % from the charity stripe. Iowa needs all the charity they can get...
