I think this game and the Maryland demonstrate that raw talent beats experience most of the time.

Two games at home = "most of the time?"

Gtfo with this semi-racist nonsense. Three of our starters were top 100 players and another would've been were it not for injury

Iowa was the best in both categories. So......

considering most people were predicting Iowa win, I think being underwhelmed by the Hawks is not over reacting.

We are right up there with Indiana and Maryland, but both those teams are more athletic and that is what beat us.

Yes, neither Iowa, Indiana, or Maryland have lost at home yet this year.

Lets see how Maryland and IU do in Iowa City?? Oh wait we will only see 1 of them.

Lets face it, Iowa played probably their worst game since the ND game in Florida. They just struggled to get to the 50/50 balls and their offense was not in sync. IU is a good ball club, but theres a reason they are 20-5 and not rated. 12 of their wins are over teams rated 150+ in the RPI. They have not faced the "big boys" of the big ten yet.

Homers maybe. I don't think the Vegas line predicted Iowa.

Most great teams have elite guards. Clemmons and Gesell are average (or a little worse).

I thought Clemmons played well and Gesell had a good first half. The difference was rebounding in the first half, free throw shooting and bench play.

Lol, if you think either team is more athletic. As posted below let's see how those teams would do in IC. Mary won't get the chance. Don't confuse race with athletic. Big difference.

Yup all those things and plus IU hot shooting from 3pt land. I mean they couldn't miss the first half and that's what kept them in it. If they shoot 33% Iowa is up by 10 maybe 15 at half. IU's guards shot lights out in the first half

"semi-racist nonsense" And you're part of the reason racism still exists in this country. Congrats!

Clearly the Indiana guys driving to the hoop at will were more athletic. Johnson, Williams, Anuoby pretty athletic group. Jok couldn't guard or get free for shot

Iowa struggles with athletic teams that play defense. Indiana turned up their defense in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half and Iowa began struggling offensively. I could not believe how many offensive rebounds they gave up in crunch time.

Rebounding in the first half was at least 67% due to the fact that we were MARRIED to the 2-3 zone in the half-court. For the entire half. I don't get that one. Same reason IU got so many open looks from 3 in the first half. I like it when Fran mixes things up and I wish I was privy to the information that made it sound like 2-3 was the way to go for the entire first half.

Iowa wasn't favored, but there was no reason they couldn't have won this game. Iowa did a poor job of boxing out letting guys run free to the hoop for put-backs, and Woody has never been a lane protector or shot blocker, so they had little trouble in that regard.

Our bench gave us zip tonight as well, which was very disappointing. 0 points. Should have just stayed home I guess.

We've beat plenty of teams that are more "athletic" than us, so not a big deal IMO. It doesn't take a whole lot of athleticism standing at the free throw line either, and that's pretty much where the game was lost in the end.

He's a big body and a good screener and rebounder. No one fears Woody close to the basket on defense. Nobody.

Hammons is a lane protector. He had 8 blocks against Michigan State alone. Does Woody have 8 blocks on the year?

Woody is playing just fine, but a lane protector he is not.

It's not nearly as common for opposing guards to penetrate and drive in for a lay-up against us as it is for us to watch Sapp/Mike do that against our opponents. Purdue is the only team the last two years to consistently post Woody successfully.

Jok and Williams are like night and day. Jok has a hard time creating his own shot. He is slow and has no handles, looks like a newborn deer. Williams on the other hand can create his own shot and score at will.

Jok needs to play to his strength and make set jump shots from the wing.

Iowa cannot beat more athletic shooting teams, Xavier, Maryland, and now Indiana.

The black and gold glasses finally coming off for some of us. Iowa is just not that good.

Iowa is fine. We have a really good team. You play to your strengths, and if we do that we can beat ANYBODY.

You're dead-on about Jok. He is one thing essentially, a great shooter. He is routinely out of sorts trying to dribble to create or drive to the basket. Just not his forte'. Glad he's our great shooter though.

Maryland has 5 NBA future players and Indiana 3 with Bryant Farrel and Williams. Big factor.

That Anuoby is a nice player, wish we'd gotten him. Just shows once again Fran has a great eye for underrated talent.

I still haven't got over that Xavier loss this year.

It's disappointing Iowa's free throw shooting as a whole is terrible. ball and hand placement, follow through, concentration. All this talk about the coaches working on free throw shooting hasn't seemed to work so far. A good team doesn't shoot less than 70 % from the charity stripe. Iowa needs all the charity they can get...

you do realize that a team can have talent & experience at the same time? It isn't always one or the other...

define raw talent...Maryland has plenty of experience...:rolleyes:

if you want to pick one over the other as being the better team...go ahead but don't make it out that the only reason Iowa has won is because of experience...and the only reason Mary has won is because of raw talent.

Cool, Iowa shoots 72% from the line on the year.

No it isn't. Not even remotely accurate.

What are you saying, that black people are "raw talent" and white players are the opposite?

You do realize Indianas best player is a senior and anything but raw?

Yogi Ferrell is an exceptionally polished talent and with out him Iowa destroys Indiana.

Again Maryland is not a raw talent team, they're very experienced, Sulimon and Carter are highly skilled seniors and they were primarily responsible for Mayrlands victory.

If you want to compare experience vs raw talent Woodbury completely out played Bryant and Diamond Stone. Those two are raw and it showed, or better yet go reference Wisconsin vs Kentucky last year. It even fits your little black white paradigm.

In reality raw talent almost never beats experienced talent. When two experienced and talented teams meet, the home team almost always has the advantage.

So in summary, quit making idiotic racist posts.
