RB Henry Geil Highlights

Excellent blocking in a lot of those plays. Geil didn't have to make a guy miss until 1:20 into the video. I have a hard time judging high school talent but he doesn't look like a burner to me. Looks more like an inside the tackles runner.

I see a guy who has pretty darn good vision, a guy who knows how to let his blocks develop, a guy who runs in a scheme that is highly compatible with our own, and lastly ... he's a guy who doesn't seem to go down on initial contact. I can definitely see what the coaches really like him!

He looks taller and bigger than the 6ft0, 211 lbs. listed on Rivals. A very intriguing prospect. I agree, mainly a straight ahead power back but enough speed to bump it outside and turn the corner on a DE/OLB. Your caution is justified though because its hard to make hard conclusions from just from watching his high school videos. I got the same impression watching tape on Toren Young but he looks plenty fast for his size playing this year.

His home town newspaper listed him at 6ft1 and claims that Geil played 25 pounds over his listed weight last season.

From the article, an opposing coach commented:

“He’s a lot better now than he was a year ago,” Ashwaubenon coach Mark Jonas said. “First of all, he got bigger. I’m not sure he got faster, because he already was pretty darn fast. But he’s definitely a much better running back than he was a year ago.”

Longer strides from a taller runner give a deceptive appearance IMO. He is definitely eating up yards on the breakaway runs. He still might be growing.

In other words, a big powerful runner with very good RB instincts. The Michigan State offer kind of verifies Geil's bona fides- he fits their model and scheme also. Surprised that Wisconsin did not offer. That decision may (hopefully) come back to bite them.

Looks like a TE in the backfield. reminds me of AP with his running style. upright and hard to take down. would be interested in seeing him in some playoff video against talented defenders at that level.

He has a good forward lean when running in traffic. The guy looks to just run away from the defenders. Good at hitting the hole on the video. Could be a good one.....

Yes, vision one of the least talked about attributes and one of the most important.

I like that Dantonio offered not that I like him. But I do respect their program's evaluation talent.

So you're saying he's another TY? Good news.

He was 6-1, 203 lbs. at the Nike Opening event in Chicago. Up to 211 lbs this fall is what he told us.
