Reality setting in for ur isu trolls?

I think we'll be slightly worse than Iowa this year, I don't really expect to be a bubble team. Give me 6 months though and I'll have myself talked in to this team and how we're going to make it. It's how I roll.

I only like 2 Cyclone fans I know. They both have the same thing in common. They realize who Iowa State is and who they aren't. If they aren't playing well, they don't sugar coat it. If they are playing well, they know at any time, it could go downhill. The rest of the Clone fans I know have let me know how much the NCAA Tournament is better than the NIT, and how relevant ISU basketball is right now. They love to say how they have gone to 2 sweet 16's, and how ever many straight NCAA tournaments within the past 7 years. Don't get me started on the Big 12 Tournaments.

I don't recall what thread it was, but I congratulated Purdue after their win on Saturday night, made it clear they were the better team, and certainly deserved to win. Kudos to Purdue, but was also happy with ISU's performance - just didnt make enough plays - no excuses.

I may be the culprit responsible for the "nationally relevant" comments. I stand behind what I said, and will not waver from it. This is a message board where people offer their opinions; you don't have to agree.

I don't recall even saying I believe ISU is in the "Kentucky, Duke, or Kansas" type league. That is silly. They have, however, gotten to a point where they can (and have) beat teams at that level. To me, national relevance equals consistency. Much like Iowa football is relevant because they are consistently good. I dont see a dramatic dropoff, but who knows???

Time will tell if this consistency continues. Prohm has brought in a good group of freshmen for next year. Jackson, Babb, and Young offer a solid core of experience. As Hawk fans know, relying on freshmen has its peaks and valleys. I'm sure ISU will have a similar year to what Iowa just had. Exciting, frustrating , and everything in between.

Don't worry, I wasn't quoting you about the nationally relevant quote. It was someone not on this forum. Your comments fall under the sane, level-headed Clone fan. Too bad they are few/far between.

This time last year nobody had ISU making the tournament--any tournament. It was unclear if Morris would return and losing Niang, McKay and Nader seemed like huge holes to fill. To that end I'd say we exceeded expectations. Obviously it would have been nice to beat Purdue. But they were the better team on Saturday. Suffice it to say, I'm cautiously optimistic about next year. Just like I was last year at this time.
