REBOUNDING!!! On Dec 21: IOWA Ranked #326 out of 364 D1 Teams in Rebounding Margin. 20 Second Chance Pts & 46-34 Reb. Margin for Clown U

I didnt watch, might watch highlights, hard for me anymore to sit thru a whole fran ball game until Feb.

So my question was the rebounding problems poor blockouts, poor hustle to get in position, slower off the floor, not getting legs into their jumps and getting beat for the ball? What exactly

It was Iowa kids watching the ball while Iowa State’s kids working hard to get position and just pinning Iowa on their backs

Yep pissed it away maybe Fran could call a timeout ?

Good point on use of time outs.

Fran called 2 time outs in the 2nd half:
(1) 8:44 to go, Iowa leading 66-64
(2) 12 seconds to go with the game over, trailing 86-78

And you are right. Iowa pissed this game away. The game was either tied or Iowa led for 36:55 of the 40 minutes. Just sucks.

20 Clown second chance points tonight off 18 Clown offensive rebounds.

100% unacceptable, but it's the same sh*tty lack of rebounding, different game.

The Clowns win 89-80 after Iowa had led for 33:28 of the game (the game was tied for 3:27).

Iowa led by 13 points in the first half (39-26 with 4:09 to go) but blow the opportunity.
Only rebounds Iowa got were balls that went through the net.

Yes, Fran is good at being ahead at NON WINNING TIME

What's new? This is Fran basketball and has been. We try to compensate w/ slow, lean length. It gets exposed every year, works just enough to get us to the dance, and culminated in further exposure.

What an ugly 22 point swing where a time out at key moments probably would have helped.

The 22 point swing: we led by 13 and lost by 9 (Iowa led 39-26 with 4:09 to go in the 1st half but ended up losing by 9 pts in the end, 89-80).

Simply boxing out

And that is what I have seen for years with many of Fran's players on the defensive end, not being in a really good defensive stance and position, not having their knees flexed and ready to move and pivot fast, so it doesnt surprise me that ISU was beating our players to spots, it is too bad as they would win a lot more games using more energy on the defensive end and on the boards

I do he was alot better then Payton tonight made his shots and stayed in controlled

Dembele seems/looks well built, too.

Ladji, in just 14 minutes tonight:

3-3 (100%) from three
1-1 (100%) from two
..................................
4-4 (100%) overall shooting

0-0 FTs

11 Points
4 Rebounds (1 offensive)
1 Steal
0 Blocks

0 Assists

Honestly, we’ve known rebounding has been a problem the entire season. We’ve had nine games to fix it and it’s only getting worse. That is a true reflection of coaching. And that just speaks to the entire tenure of Fran. It’s time to move on
I really enjoyed those 45 point outbursts UIowa enjoyed under Lickliter. Ah, the golden days of UIowa basketball.

I agree with the thought that playing Payton (39 mins) for too many minutes instead of Seydou (14 mins) was a big mistake. Traore looked just fine and not particularly winded to me. 50% FG and 100% FT seemed just fine to me.

Did you like Fran's starting 5? I wonder if that is temporary/based on the opponent.

Interesting that Fran only played 8. Mulvey would have helped in the rebounding dept, imo.

Minutes played tonight:
39: Payton
36: Dix
36: Drew
31: Brock
26: Owen
14: Seydou
14: Ladji
4: Pryce

Lol wow amazing analysis and no twitter involved.

Says the queen of Twitter and BlueSky posts.

Are you boycotting Twitter now because of Musk/Trump? Of course you are. You are one sad, pathetic individual who unfortunately waddles over here from the Off Topic forum.

Anything else before you waddle back?
Lol projection 101. Pathetic and expected. I recommend deleting your account for the benefit of us all.

My god, you are pathetic.

Are you still telling people on Twitter and now on BlueSky to delete their accounts, too?

You are so pathetic that after the Trump/Biden debate you tweeted at Democrat politicians to delete their accounts even though they were correctly tweeting that Biden should drop out of the Presidential race.

Anything else you would like me to embarrass you on? Or are you going to tap out for the evening?

I did? Amazing I had no idea I did. You going to cry to moderators like the past ones. Hilarious how they knew how pitiful you were and they were very accurate. You're wrong endlessly and a sad person. Keep your pathetic sons up bumping your lame threads to clog up everything and dumb it all down.

Here is a quote from Otty-Burger during the post-game tonight that pretty much sums up the last 10 years of watching Iowa basketball for me:

"Rebounding, there's a skill piece to it, but so much comes down to heart, determination and effort."

I honestly forgot we were playing ISU tonight. I may have watched if I had remembered......and I want the Hawks to win, but I just can't get invested in a team that goes down like soft $h!T in a rainstorm when someone punches them in the mouth.

Every year when basketball season comes around, I hope that it is Fran's last in Iowa City. I think the very worst thing you can be described as is soft.

Yes, you did tweet at Democrat politicians to delete their accounts and you know you did.

Why do you lie so much on here? Who do you think you are fooling?

And here is just one example of the many times you have cried to the mods. You were soon banned for a week after this post. But you got one part right in this post; you are indeed one sad, pathetic drunk.

Pinehawk, I'm beyond sad the likes of Fran and Whiskey post their endless BS and personal attacks and I'm banned for "Republicans for Harris" posts. Bullshit 💯

kids learn rebounding and boxing out at a very young age

at the college level, it should be a requirement

If it’s not emphasized and harped on daily in practice/film sessions, it won’t happen, even for college kids. We all know being fundamentally sound and doing the hard/dirty work isn’t emphasized under Fran. We just watch the same shit year after year.

When's the last time Iowa actually had a good rebounding team?

Remember when Tom Davis teams led the country in rebounding margin?

I was really hoping Dembele could be that rebounding guy we need

He just isn’t good
he only played 4 minutes in the second half, 10 in the first. Still have 4 rebounds, Freeman and Payton 5, Thelwell 6. So team effort on rebounds. You play small ball and you better make your shots, which they did until late in the game when they went 4 for 17.

Most of it was not boxing out
this is certainly a lot of it. Most of it is poor defensive philosophy. We play poor help defense. less eyes on the ball = less rebounds. We also don't play at 100% effort (no one does) but some teams like ISU sure get close.

Ah, the: you can't expect better because you once had a poor coach defense. Just as solid as frans defense.
Get a clue.

Fran’s kid’s were never fundamentally sound. Conner was tough with poor skills and Patrick was not tough( I’m being nice here) with average skills. Both guys were poor defenders. That’s not good when the coaches kids don’t defend and are not good shooters to boot. Fran’s lack of meaningful success has always been about defending and rebounding. Discipline! This team is being led by a faux tough guy who can’t defend my grandma and thinks he is better than he is . PS. Cant lead that way. Same old same old with Fran.

1/3 of the rebound from people fran didn't coach last year in about 21% of the minutes.

I will say that Conner was an above average off ball defender.
