Recent Grassley town hall...

What I don't understand about Congress is I can't believe they, as a branch of government, would collectively sit there and cede power to the Executive branch.

Figured by now they'd be pushing back and trying to take some power back.

Actually, Congress is the real problem, and has been for decades, they've ceded power and are ineffective. They've given the power to the Executive branch and let that branch rule by executive orders. The Judicial branch has been the guard rail keeping the President in check, for a long time.

Congress needs to get back to doing their job.
Follow the money, Eloon promised a large campaign contribution to each republican who pushed to have federal judges impeached, you think he’s stopping there? Ogilarchs are in control now.

I suspect that's exactly what the intent was,.. Dysart isn't exactly a population center.
Even Grassley staff aren't stupid enough to think only people from Dysart are going to go to a meeting in Dysart.

I think Grassely is a Dbag that is the biggest lobbyist for our shitty environment in Iowa due to being on his knees for the farmers and big ag. He loves getting subsidies for the welfare kings in Iowa.

I was just reporting the facts Sabs
Are they facts though?

Oh, I took constitutional law when I was in college. I understand the Constitution and how things are supposed to work. It's just they haven't worked for a very long time.

There has always existed a power struggle between the 3 branches of government. The Judicial branch jumped out early and grabbed power in 1803 with Marbury v Madison and it's been on from there.

Congress is to make the laws, Courts to interpret the laws, and President to enforce the laws. Today we have the President making the laws through EO, Courts keeping those EOs in check, and Congress silently murmuring about controlling the checkbook, which with DOGE we're finding out that Congress doesn't even have the Power of the Purse anymore as Elon and Trump are ignoring Congressional appropriations.

I just wonder if at some point is Congress going to try to assert themselves as an equal branch of government or if they'll just continue being a little biatch.

And no, this is not just Trump centric, Congress has been a little biatch for a long time now. The last few weeks have really highlighted how weak they are. If Trump takes the checkbook from them too, them what exactly is the purpose of Congress?
At this point a lot of Republicans are fine with staying in the shadows and having some deniability about what Musk is doing. Chuck found out yesterday a lot of people aren’t fine with the hands off approach. His reaction will be to chew out whatever staffer let him get caught out in the open like this

I’m not making a big deal about it haha. I could care less about this whole ordeal. I was just providing what I was told and answer question from posters jumping to conclusions of one post after another. A common theme around here

Whoa Bruno. You started a thread. These are polarized times.

True that. I start threads on here often... most are just lighthearted, kind of stupid threads designed to poke fun at Bonespurs, the lemmings in the cult, and Republicans in general. But you'd think I was criticizing God or Oprah, the way some here get all verclempt about ridiculing their side. To me it's all comic relief anymore, but too many here think it's rocket surgery... what they think and how could others dare not agree.

They've been threatened that Musk will fund a replacement if they go against them. They are all more concerned about their own power than protecting the US. History will not be kind to the cowards who sat back and allowed it to happen.

Breadbags was publicly threatened with execution by Trump over Hegseth, and she looked into the mirror and decided she was fine with a rapist who cratered 2 non-profits as SecDef.

I didn’t start this thread. I didn’t realize you were this low IQ ft

My mistake. You contributed to the issue of non-residents being at the meetings, which is a non-issue.

Republicans are trying to use this as a reason to not have town hall meetings. Unhappy constituents are not "plants" or contrived bus loads. Its genuine sentiment. No plants are necessary.

Anyone can attend a Senator town hall regardless of venue.

@BrunoMars420 , got any buddies in Hampton for a license's plate report?

Typical republican, don't answer the question, blame the news media for your lack of balls. He never did tell us why he doesn't stand up to Elon Musk and his vice president trump. He's your typical enabler for Musk and Bonespurs. So sad the old guy has sunk so low.

I’m just reporting the facts compared to Iowas MSM!!

But I think the point of his comment is that it may be artificial anger with the same people just following Chuck screaming.
His constituents following him around are not feigning anger. They are justifiably angry at his feckless cowardice and betrayal of Iowa values.

You would think Chuck would be a little past the point of worrying about his chance of re-election.

But apparently he wants to be a senator forever, so here we are.
Forms of dementia seem to be running rampant through this Congress and this administration. Grassley and Bonespurs being obvious subjects number 1 and 2.
