I'll just be waiting by my computer

Great to have Max in town. Great wrestler, but exactly how many guys do we need in the 125-141 range. Lets spend some scholly money on some big guys!

It's an unofficial so who knows how much they would end up spending in scholly money. I think a lot of that is dependent on if they end up a starter. Unless it is a Lee type situation. If a kid really wants to come to Iowa and they and their parents believe in themselves, then its a lot like PSU; they would be willing to shell out the money to take the risk to be coached by some of the best in the country...at least for the initial year. Plus, Max said he wants to major in engineering which tells me that his grades are probably very healthy which could bring some academic money in.

Max has been a big Iowa fan for a long time. If Iowa really wants him he is ours, IMO. I also think that 141-149 post Sorensen is far from settled and wouldn't mind having another body or two at those weights.

Good to know...Max was the favorite this year too in PA until he got beat by point against Courtney in the finals. I have absolutely no problems with Max in a Hawk singlet. This is exactly the kind of recruiting strategy we are looking for. The old paradigms do not apply as families want to see their kids on relevant teams at good universities an are willing to take the risk to pay for their kids dreams to come true. They already spend a shitload of money training them up and sending them to tourneys across the country...what's another $8 to 10K in tuition for the first year...especially if they already have an educational IRA set aside. Cael has showed us that.

Oh yea...I think we are starting to see the Lee effect come into play.

Im sick & tired of our holes at 41-57...(sorensen excluded). The more the merrier.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Max in the room. He is going to be a good one and hope he comes, especially if he can get academic scholarship cash. I just hope the scholarship $ distribution isn't so skewed to the lighter weights that there isn't enough scholly $ to land the big fish at the upper weights.

That's why I said if Iowa "really wants him". I do think our coaches would love to have him, but they are obviously mindful of team needs. If he doesn't come to Iowa, I think it will be because of a much better offer from someone else. More depth at 184/197 is something that we can all agree needs to be addressed.

I think Troy is going to turn some heads next year and we'll see him shoot up the rankings. Remember he got injured in his second match at the Walsh Iron Man tournament. I believe he was seeded #2 at that tournament. He missed a whole lot of time with that injury and then lost some close matches to Wick a couple times and finally finished 3rd at state for the 2nd straight year. We just saw how tough Wick is in his match with Kemmerer recently, where Michael fought off a last second TD and got the win. I think Troy will be at top 3 nationally ranked wrestler at 152 or 160 and it'll be interesting to see where all these guys work out weight-wise. Looks to be a lot studs trying to work their way into the lineup. Definitely a good thing!

Go Hawks!!!

The name Luke Troy just sounds like a stud...or a country singer.

I will make sure to tell Tom not to spend all the money on the lower weights when I see him this weekend. You may have just saved the program!

Gotta say, I love the quality recruits we have coming in recently. I don't really know how much M* is involved with getting some of these guys, but kudos to the TnT, M* and whomever else is connecting.

Give TnT the raw talent, and you'll get results. Cael had been getting A+ talent, while Iowa has been a couple of notches below. That gap has narrowed significantly in the past 2 years.

Getting some top tier talent from PA and CA, not to mention IL and OH. MN seems to have great heavier weights.... maybe they could send a few our way. :)

Could you also see if he could get Kyle Snyder to cut back to 197 after the Olympics and transfer in? Thanks in advance.
