Recruits are coming to town

This seems to be our failing strategy for a very long time.
Gable never kissed kid's butts. Iowa was THE PLACE to go back then. That has changed.

I am not saying that you do not give kids attention and let them know that you want them, but throwing boatloads of cash at them etc. does not see healthy.
It just took TnT a while to realize that just saying we are Iowa and we want you is not enough to get a kid to sign. Cael was the shiny new thing and he capitalized on it. Add to it a different approach that appeals to this generation of kids and you have PSU - the new place to go.
Okie state may take over that title, if Taylor can work some magic over there.

Gable was able to find his guys and develop. Guys now come with a much higher floor than what Gable worked with. Different times. I we've been told since TnT no longer have to fundraise for the facility, they will recruit much better (more consistent). I'm hoping that's the case, but not holding my breath.

I think their personalities are better suited to coach, not be a salesman, which is what recruiting is, sales. I think Tom Ryan is a natural salesman, which is why he has out recruited us most years, but we out performed his teams on the mat most years.

I wonder what Forest will be at in college, 133/141?
Anywhere from 133-157 is realistic. He has the frame to grow but could also stay the same size if he chose to. I would guess he goes 132/133 all HS season and 133 in NCAA opens and stays at 61kg for U20s next offseason. Then moves up to 138/139 for senior year HS. Going 141 for NCAA opens and 65kg for u20s. Then is a 141/149 as a true freshman

I still think and will continue to say. I think Iowa has a very good shot to land Bassett. Bassett wants to be the man and he will be just that at Iowa. Jax I think will end up at Penn State.

I honestly like the Hawks chances on both Jax and Bassett. I like our chances better with Bassett to be honest. Jax will be hard to tear away from DT and his Cowboys. I got a gut feeling neither one ends up at psu. Not saying Iowa gets them just truly feel neither one are staying home.
