Iowa is recruiting much better. Iowa is playing much better. Iowa could control the West of the BIG for many years. With better recruiting means more transfers of players who can not jump up the depth charts do to incoming talent. THIS IS A GOOD THING. Shows were the team is going and the talent level is increasing. ;)

Recruits know Iowa puts players in the NFL. That KF is a class act.

The only objective "fact" about recruiting is that our incoming recruiting class ranked 43rd nationwide with zero 4 stars signing. Wis and Neb ranked higher and each had four 4 stars.

The 2015 recruiting class, which are the guys that will be sophs and redshirt frosh, ranked 58th nationwide with one 4 star. Wisc and Neb finished higher than us, and Neb actually signed six 4 stars. That is as many as we have on the entire roster.

Those are the facts. You can take from that and interpret it as we are going to be dominant in the west for years to come, but the facts when it comes to recruiting are what they are. We just have to hope that our guys were underrated and develop, everyone eles's guys were overrated.

That's interesting that you say fact Iowa's recruiting class was ranked such and such. If you go to another recruiting site their rank could be different. The point is recruiting rankings are subjective and based on the opinions of scouts. How can anything be fact when it's built on opinions.

Rivals Recruiting rankings for 2012-2015:
Iowa - 43, 50, 55, 58
Nebraska - 26, 17, 32, 28
Wisconsin - 57, 53, 33, 44

Shouldn't Nrbeaska be kicking Iowa's butt every year based off recruiting rankings? And Wisky winning close every year. Heck, other B1G teams Iowa has beaten have had higher ranked recruiting classes.

Really? What would Iowa's B1G record look like if we didn't have Purdue, Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota? These are weaklings on the field and the recruiting scene. Even last year we won just 3 games against FCS opponents with winning records.

Not disputing your facts but a little perspective helps and if you look at historic recruiting under KF, this is about par for the course. We have ONE top 25 class and our average ranking is below 45. Given we have TWO four star players who have verbally committed, this class will definitely be above our average.

Iowa went 12-0 in the regular season last year.

On offense they were led by:

2-star RB Jordan Canzeri
2-star RB Akrum Wadley
2-star WR Matt Vandenberg
3-star RB LeShaun Daniels
3-star WR Tevaun Smith
3-star QB CJ Beathard

On defense they were anchored by:

2-star DE Parker Hesse
2-star DE Nate Meier
2-star LB Josey Jewell
2-star LB Ben Nieman
3-star LB Cole Fisher
3-star DB Desmond King

So clearly, everyone can understand IowaLaw's point.

Some good points, BUT keep in mind a few things:

Iowa had 3 top 10 finishes in a row from 2002-2004 capped off by an improbable 2005 Capitol One Bowl win over LSU (Tate to Halloway). Their recruiting class for 2005 was ranked #11 by Rivals. It seemed Iowa was on the verge of becoming a perennial top 10 program. Unfortunately, they then went on to finish the next three seasons unranked, going 7-6, 6-7, and 6-6 respectively.

In short, boldly stating Iowa could control the West for many years to come is quite absurd. Especially in light of the fact other programs are tirelessly working to build their programs to dethrone Iowa.

I do like the resurgence of the program but think cautious optimism and tempered enthusiasm is the best approach from season to season. Otherwise, you run into the vicious cycle of fan expectation turning to the fickle sentiment of "Ferentz is an incompetent, money-grubbing, stale, old, conservative, rotten, no eye for talent coach who needs to kick rocks."

The fact is, nobody thought Iowa was recruiting well exactly 12 months ago. The recent "good" recruiting will not be proven out until 2017-18
